Get above average Thai food but not the best in Atlanta.
When you first walk in the ambiance is quiet with a mild fanciness. We wore casual clothes but did not feel out of place.
We tried a little of everything. The pot of chicken coconut soup was tasty but not as unique as some of the better Thai places of Atlanta. It tasted average. There was lots of chicken that also tasted slightly above average but we were not left with that over rubbery chicken. Although not overly succulent it was better than normal.
The spring rolls were very good. Although, once again, not very unique. they tasted fresh and possibly homemade. What made the spring rolls was the sauce. Much better than the traditional sauce you get with spring rolls this was sweet almost honeyish.
Speaking of sauce, the sauce was also a positive feature of the potstickers. I usually call them dumplings but here they are called potstickers. Sauce was sharp and held a distinct contrast to the dumplings. Get the dumplings steamed.
We ordered the Panang and Massaman curries. The dinner portions were huge. I imagine most couples could share. The Panang tasted very fresh but did not give me that comfort and sharp taste of Panang. The Massaman was better. The curry was milky rich with lots of avocado, cashews, huge slight soft carrots and potatoes. Hearty yet amazingly fresh. Although I am not a vegetarian I typically order my curry without meat since the chicken takes away from the overall quality of the dish. Since we only had veggies it was healthy and crisp.
The most disappointing thing we had was the Thai iced tea and the mango with sticky rice. Boring flavor, mangos not cold and fresh, rice not warm enough. Just skip it.
The Thai tea was boring with no strong distinct flavor of the tea or the sweat contrast of the milk. Don't order it
We were treated in typical Thai service fashion. All our need were attended to but for some reason she appeared to be in a bad mood. Oddly this is a common occurrence at almost every Thai place I have been to.
Still good food and decent value. I...
Read moreI went with a group for dinner. It started off normal, but quickly went down from there. We were seated and water was provided. Some of us arrived a little late and those folks didn't get any water until much later. The waitress rarely came to check up on us. When she did drop by, it was to take our order. The first person ordered for his family, then the waitress started collecting all the menues. When she came to take mine, I had to hold on to it with an iron grip just so that I could order my meal. At this point the food was ordered, but at no point did they provide any silverware. Once the appetizers started coming out, you would have thought that we would have gotten silverware at that point. Nope, that was wishful thinking. We eventually got the silverware ourselves from the waitress station in the back corner. Some of the main dishes started coming out. Then we noticed that other tables who came in after us started getting their food before us. When we asked the waitress about that, the went to the back, then brough the remaining dishes out, most of it anyway. When we asked about the missing dishes, she gave us a weird look before going into the kitchen. She came out seconds later with the last dishes. Apparently, they were ready but she didn't bother to bring them out.
Service was horribly bad, and the dishes were average. I think the waitress already knew that she was getting an 18% tip, because we came as a large group, so she didn't care to provide proper service. That was evident by the fact that other tables that came in after us were getting better service.
I don't plan to ever go there again, and I don't recommend that anyone else...
Read moreI have not wanted to write this review, but I just keep being disappointed the last several months. My husband and I are longtime customers and this restaurant has always been good, but the last 3 times I have been disappointed by them. First, we ate out in the dining room, and they seem to have a double standard on their tea. I ordered tea green tea on two different times, and they gave me this huge tea pot with one small tea bag in it. Both times it never brewed to anything but faintly flavored hot water. The last time I complained, and they gave me loose leaf which was great. I guess that they reserve for people they think might want good tea. Two weeks ago, I ordered a side of cucumber salad with my takeout dinner. When I got home I had been given two teaspoons of cucumber salad. It equaled about 4 slices of marinated cucumber. When you order at the table you get a small bowl full. Then tonight was the last straw and I needed to vent. I love Green Curry Chicken and have ordered it for years. Usually it has green beans, bellpepper, sometimes thai eggplant, bean sprouts, basil and at some places carrots. Tonight, it had Chicken and a LOT of bell pepper that’s it. I think there were one or two bean sprouts. I am so disappointed. I drive a pretty good way to get there because they have always been so good, but something is going on there these days. I will be finding a new place to get our Thai. I will post a photo of my supposed Green Curry Thai. It is only Chicken and Bell pepper...
