Was in Pittsburgh for conference and had a craving for Indian food, so we googled and found Bombay to Burgh. It is an interesting neighborhood of suburban Pittsburgh with difficult parking is street. Simple no fills outside facade of restaurant. Don't let the simpleness fool you as this powerhouse restaurant is packed with indian flavor and innovation. Owner and Chef Gaurav Navin is moderning indian cusinie through his vast experiences to enlighten the masses in the USA. Our meal: Appetizers: Paneer Kurkure: 6/5 - you will look at paneer pakora in a totally new way. Freshly made inhouse paneer in seasoned besan batter with corn meal crust. B2B Chicken - 4/5 - great curry flavored crust. Chicken pieces need more consistency in size. Main meal: Palak Paneer: 4.5/5 - home-made palak with chucky tomatoes, onions, garlic, and ginger. Great paneer. Kadhai Lamb - 5/5 - Lamb is fresh and soft, and the gravy is seasoned to prefection. Lamb Biryani - 4.5/5 - Rice is cooked to be prefection and seasoned well. Lamb was tendered. Just wanted more pieces. Malabar Laccha Paratha - amazing tasted flakey roti with great taste. Dessert: Qubani Ka Meetha - one of the top five desserts of my life I have tasted that improves with every bite. Apricots, ice cream, and nuts combo are amazing. Great experience and conversation with Chef Gaurav about his food techniques and his willings to take constructive feedback was great to see. Thank you for making fresh Indian chai for mom late at night. She loved it. I will drive quarterly to Pittsburgh to have meal at Bombay to Burgh as they plan on doing seasonal inspired menu offerings. Can't wait to see what Chef Gaurav has in store Q1 2025.

A unique Indian restaurant with a great menu and a decent location. I saw all the amazing reviews and was very interested in trying the food out. I ordered the dahi Kabab, samosa chaat, and garlic naan. All the food was quite good. The dahi Kabab was one of the most unique items on the menu, and something I don't typically see in Indian restaurants. It is a yogurt patty that is pan fried. The texture on the inside is in between cottage cheese and greek yogurt. Very nicely pan fried for crispness. However, I personally wasn't that big of a fan because it included a ton of onions. Onion wasn't listed as an ingredient on the site, so I would have not ordered if I had known it contained so many onions. It was also my first time trying samosa chaat, although I am a big fan of samosas and chickpeas. It was really good! The portion was great for the price. Chaat had a nice balance of sweetness (some from the sauce and pomegranate) and savoriness. Lots of chickpeas and very well made samosas. Yogurt wasn't my favorite addition but not bad. Not too spicy at all. Very high quality and would definitely recommend. The garlic naan was also pretty good. It was relatively standard, nothing too out of the ordinary, but good. They use a fair amount of chopped garlic. Not too buttery. Fair portion as well. I used it to soak up some of the delicious chickpeas from the samosa chaat. All in all, I can definitely see why this place gets high reviews. The food is made in house (even the breads), the menu is great, and the food is high quality. Give it a try!

Date of Visit : Sept 13, 7:14 PM Order taken: 7:29 PM I called around 6:50 Pm and checked to see if they could accommodate a table of 4 ( we had young kids with us) or if there was a wait. The person who answered the call asked us how long it would take us to get there. I said 25 mins. He said no problem come on over. We arrive and are told there are no tables and we could choose to sit at two different tables that seated 2. No problem. We noticed it was just one person that was serving all the tables and taking orders. We waited and put in our order at the desk at 7:29. From there we just waited and we were served one appetizer with the rest of the food no where in sight. Multiple people were waiting to pick up their takeaways too. At this point it felt useless and I made the decision to leave with my kids as my husband stayed back to pay and get the rest of the food for take away. 45 mins after we left my husband texted that he got the food and was on his way home. They didn’t charge us for the food because of the delay( really appreciate the gesture). They missed an appetizer we ordered. I have to give kudos to the lady serving and managing the crowd coming through the doors. She very sweetly tried to get us to seat together to no avail. To the management: please staff adequately. Please be transparent to your customers about waiting times Food : The Malabar Parotta was outstanding. Rest was very forgettable. We didn’t receive the b2b chicken. I don’t think we will be returning.

This was, by far, the best Indian food I have had in Pittsburgh. I will very definitely be back. The last time I had really great Indian food was in Sacremento, ages ago. Every place I have been to in Pittsburgh has a buffet, and the staff acts weird if you try to order ala carte. So this was a very nice contrast to the usual Pittsburgh Indian restaurant.

The flavors were amazing, and fresh. The chef is really paying attention to how he is spicing the food, and you can taste the flavors shifting from bay leaf, to cardamom, etc. It's quite clear that they are grinding their own spices in house, not using some jar of curry powder from Cisco. I would have loved a little more heat on my vindaloo, but I certainly was not complaining.

I would give it five stars, but the service needs work. To be fair, we went on a Friday evening, around 7:30. That's a busy time, but there were three people on the floor for a place that might seat 40-45 people. It took a long time for someone to take our order, and she did not write it down. We had to remind her about an appetizer, and there was a long gap between the first course and entree. My water glass sat empty for a long time, while (what I believe was the FOH manager) socialized with the table beside us.

I was a server for a long time. At some pretty fancy places, too. When you say, 'I'll be right back with water', do that. The water pitcher is how you check on tables. Walk around. Top off the glass. People will tell you when something is not right. That's your moment. Most importantly though, write down the order. Imagine if you spaced on a dietary restriction instead of just forgetting an appetizer. Being nice is not enough. You have to be organized, and keep an eye on every table in your section. I say this, because it did not seem like servers had defined sections.

I say this not to be mean, but as constructive criticism, because I want to see this place thrive, and grow. It's in a challenging location, near an overpass, in a not quite walkable part of Swissvale. It's not an ideal location, and that matters for a restaurant to survive. The food is amazing, and worth every penny. I'd love to see the menu expand a little in time, but there is not a thing wrong with it now. If you are spending your hard earned money on corporate Indian at Choolah, I invite you to put on your coat, and Uber over to the East End to get some realness in your life.

While we were waiting for someone to take our order, we considered leaving because it was taking a long time. I am very glad that we decided to stay, but that kind of gap in service needs to be corrected. People will walk out. That would be sad, because then, everyone involved misses out. The guests miss an amazing experience, and staff...

WOW. My mouth is still dancing with delight from the incredible meal I had this evening at B2B and my soul is shining from the incredible experience and wonderful service start to finish. My husband and I lived in India for several months and always love going out to eat Indian food. We are lucky in Pittsburgh there are so many great Indian places. But I have to say Bombay to Burgh has something special both in the experience and the food (oh my god, the paneer kukure!!!!) which was phenomenal and the best Indian I’ve had here in pgh. As we opened the door we were immediately entranced by the incredible smell. So fragrant and warm and so much depth, and that is exactly how the food tastes. The layers of flavor of spices in the sauces, we had methi mushroom paneer and malai kofta- incredible, impeccable! The staff are so friendly, we were immediately greeted and seated and had a very kind, attentive waitress. Everything about the experience of eating there was a delight- the food was incredible beyond belief and the atmosphere is perfect- Indian music playing, it feels cozy but not too dark and you feel like you’re in your own little world. The authentic silver cups remind me of exactly what we used when living in India and just added to the amazing experience- I truly felt transported and like we were in another realm. The serving bowls are all so nice too as well as the cups drinks like the mango lassi came in and it just felt like an incredible experience at every turn. We are so glad we were given a gift card and came by to try Bombay to Burgh- it is a new favorite for us and we will be back soon! Thanks so much Bombay to Burgh for such an incredible and...
