Going to this restaurant changed my view on the world. Before I ate at Outback for the first time, I was a man who grew up in a cruel world and was forced to grow up quickly. My house was destroyed by a tornado when I was a child, the only thing left to my name was the family rake. I moved in with my grandfather in Virginia and the day I moved in he made me rake all 6 acres of land with that very same family rake. At school I was not very popular, during recess the "cool" kids would take turns hitting me with chains with locks on the end, I had to learn to toughen up quick just to get through middle school. Needless to say my view on the world and the people in it had become jaded. One day I had decided I had enough of my Grandpa and his chores and his terrible alternative psych rock music, so I ran away and Hitchhiked all the way to Ohio. The trucker I was riding with apparently had enough of me and my MF DOOM mixtape as well and kicked me out on the side of the road from the moving truck. I limped along, I hadn't eaten or drank anything in days. I saw a Red Lobster, but Red Lobster sucks so I kept walking, and then I saw it, Outback, it caught my eye like a glistening jewel the dank musty mineshaft that was my life. I walked in and the atmosphere blew me away, I felt like I had just went through a portal to the famous land down under. The host's voice sounded like the divine voice of God, coming to deliver me from the deep bowls of hell back to the Garden of Eden. He said to me "Follow me and I'll seat you". Every second I was there, I was waiting for a catch, I was waiting for another chain in the back, I was waiting for Butch to take what little I had left just like in middle school. But it never came, all I got was fantastic atmosphere, servers that treated me better than my family ever had, and food that would have made Jesus's final supper look like an Arby's 5 dollar meal deal. The Bloomin' Onion, in all it's magnificent glory, each bite reminded me what it meant to be alive. The Steak Burger showed me how far society had come from our days of rolling in the dirt. And of course, the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under, I felt as if I had indulged each and every one of my deepest and darkest desires in 3 bites. In conclusion I came out of this restaurant a different, happy, free man. I only hope that by writing this review I can influence someone else to experience this incredible pinnacle of...
Read moreWent to the Kenwood location with my granddaughter. She had went on her 1st date at 18 and didn't have a good experience. I thought we could discuss the date over a steak. We sat at the bar to avoid a wait to be seated at a table. The 1st thing that grossed me out is that the bar area had no hinged door for the barmaid/waitress to exit and enter from. She literally had to crawl on her hands and knees to go in and out of the bar. Without sanitizing her hands she proceeded to take our order and make drinks for customers. I ordered a well done steak and my granddaughter ordered a medium rare steak. After the food was placed in front of us my granddaughter noticed right away that her steak was not rare... we sent it back. When I cut into my steak it was medium rare. Looks like the waitress gave us the wrong steaks so I sent mine back as well. I also noticed she did not bring out a bread loaf and butter which is typically included with a meal at Longhorns and Texas Road House. I inquired about the bread and the barmaid/waitress says that every since COVID the bread is only provided by request. However as the bar seating filled up with customers everyone else had bread brought out to them without requesting it.....hmmmmm. I ordered the butter cake for desert. The cake was presented in its' original FROZEN state. I mean it was ROCK HARD. After this I requested to speak to a manager. The manager's name was Meagan. She was attentive and patient as I explained how terrible the service was. She did not allow me to pay the bill for our meal and she also provided us with gift certificates. I feel that her apology was authentic and I appreciated the validation. My 18 year old granddaughter looked at me with wide eyes and asked "Grandma is this what racism feels like". What was meant to be an opportunity for me to discuss my granddaughter's 1st date turned into me putting more energy into a horrific dining experience at Outback...
Read moreFrom the time we were seated the experience started going down hill. It took almost 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were seated. The kitchen even tried brining us food when we had just sat down. When our server finally came to the table, her exact words were “what do you want to order?” No hello, welcome to Outback or anything. Upon ordering our drinks it took 20 minutes to get them. We were not informed that the delay was because of an issue with ice. After we ordered our salads came out quickly but we had to wait over 5 minutes to even get silverware. By the time we got silverware to eat our salads our food came out so it was eat the salad and let the food get cold or eat the food and let the salad go soggy. My husbands steak was completely over cooked twice. The lobster i had was so overcooked it was inedible. My husband proceeded to order a draft beer and it took 10 minutes to get it to the table and there was plenty of staff standing at the bar chatting. Our server never asked us if we wanted anything else, to go boxes or if we were ready to pay. She walked up and slapped the check on the table and said here’s this. We were gonna get more drinks but we felt rushed to get out at this point. We tried finishing our drinks but the waiter walked up again to ask if we were ready to pay. Which we were not because we were trying to finish our drinks. We finally paid so we could get out. We notified management about the experience on our way out. We completely understand everyone has a bad day/night. But we simply wanted to come in for a nice family dinner. We come to outback all the time because it means a lot to myself and my husband. We had our first date there and we always come for our anniversary. After today’s experience we will...
