This place is a delight for the palette. We aren't from the area, so we googled a nearby breakfast place and wound up at Toast and berries. Unfortunately the wait time for a small party was an hour long, so we asked the hostess if there was another breakfast place in the area that they recommended. She recommended calling First Watch in Kenwood to check availability. To our surprise, there was no wait. We filled out anapplication online to ensure we would be on the wait list in the event that it filled up before we got there.
When we arrived, seating went seamlessly. The menu was double sided, simple and to the point. I have an issue eating overly sweet things in the mornings, but I'm a sucker for French toast. I ordered the French toast, and the blueberry compote that accompanied it was phenomenal. Hot cocoa was rich and creamy. I was also pleasantly surprised with the million dollar bacon. I believe the name of our waitress was Mikayla, she was attentive while not overbearing. It was very busy, but food came out fairly quick, within half an hour of ordering. A bonus for me, I absolutely adored the pokemon drawings they had on their chalkboard. Only negative I could possibly find was parking is limited, but we were able to find parking with ease.
Highly recommend if you're in the area. Our family...
Read more4.5 stars Solid breakfast place, but plan on a line. Very good for meetings, family, and friend meet ups. They offer an extensive list of choices from superfood juices to traditional eggs and toast. They offer egg whites and yogurt parfaits for the health conscious. I've been to this location many times. On this occasion, i had eggs Benedict florentine with fruit substituted for the lemon dressed side salad. The eggs were served on toasted ciabatta which was a nice twist. The fruit was the standard honey dew/cantaloupe mix.
Cons. 1. Our waitress was mediocre. 2. When you order tea, they provide you with one tea bag of lower grade tea. They're happy to bring more hot water, but very reluctant to bring a second bag. The creamer on the table is the flavored artificial type, so I ordered a glass of milk. The waitress brought out a thimble. I had to explain that I wanted an actual glass like I'd ordered. I know most people drink coffee, of which refills are provided, but you shouldn't need to negotiate for more tea. (And this happens...
Read moreFirst off I have to say I was just visiting from Florida where we had the original first watch. The restaurant was fine as far as atmosphere. The food looked nice coming out. However, I ordered the eggs Benedict Florentine and it was served completely cold. We were in a hurry when the sir Rachel checked in. I let her know that it tasted good but it was cold from the time was delivered. Nobody wants runny eggs that are cold said do I want her to remake it? I asked how long she thought it would take thinking the usual restaurant responses. Not long because normally they would remake a problematic order right away versus put you in line behind all the other guests. She was not friendly and only responded probably as long as it took the first time made. No apologies. I'm a slow eater. The husband had already finished half of his so I ate the cold breakfast. I would have been more forgiving. Had the restaurant been busy but it wasn't at all. Busy tomorrow. Only three or four tables including ours...
