Lazy Hiker Brewing - Sylva Taproom — Restaurant in Sylva

First time visiting Lazy Hiker and I was pleasantly surprised. We sampled a flight of their house brews to decide a full pour or two. I’m an IPA guy, my wife leans toward stouts and porters—and both of us found something to enjoy. I went for the NEIPA: smooth, flavorful, and refreshingly crushable on a hot day. No MBAT either, which was a plus. Food-wise, we grabbed seats at the bar since the shaded tables in the back were taken. I ordered the pub burger with chips and pub cheese. The burger was the kind I prefer—thicker and cooked rare-to-medium rare—not a smash burger (which are everywhere in Sylva lately). The pub cheese was creamy, cheddar-based (I think), with a bit of a southwestern kick. Also tried the wings: not jumbo, but definitely not tiny. Good texture and a solid buffalo sauce with just enough heat to keep things interesting. The one con, you are ordering from two different business's, the Lazy Hikers, and whatever the name of the food service was, sorry, can't remember. Kind of like a food truck, but inside kitchen in the establishment. You pay at the bar, they keep your card vs just swyping, and then when you order at the food window, they have to bring your CC over to swype on their terminal, not terrible, just odd! Service was excellent—attentive and friendly. Even though we live a couple of counties away, this is one we’ll make a point to revisit when...

My favorite place was closed Guadalupe so choose here. 1st time. Food was delicious very flavorful, vegan items were very delicious no complaints with the food at all. But still can't top Guadalupe lol!! However their service was horrible!! Wasn't greeted, figured out where to order and how lol. Didn't know had to get our own utensils, water and Condiments and such well I wasnt told by the young lady that took our order at the register.

I finally figured it out once I had returned from outside seating for probably the 6th time.. Then I had to ask.. A nice couple actually decided to help me, told me because I looked lost and we laughed..

I asked the lady who took the order about the beer menu because it's a brewery and she quickly said, (you have to go in for that).. Welp didn't know that either and I literally laughed. Because the bar tender was attending to a conversation regarding dogs with a couple customer...So she didn't have to time to greet us or let us know how the ordering worked.. I truly had to laugh to keep from saying, (seriously lol)... I left as quickly as I could lol... However the food was very tasty. Just be prepared to be lost if it's your 1st time visiting lol... The Lazy defiantly...

Slow, slow, and slow! Waited over 40 mins for appetizers, and the main course came out 10 mins before one of the apps. And the second was actually the last dish brought out. With a self service concept to the kitchen, they still added an automatic gratuity. The self service table ran out of water, tea and silverware. When notified the wait staff shrugged her shoulders and said "someone called out." One of bartenders spent the time hanging t-shirts on a line. It would seem that if you had to actually close the kitchen because you were overwhelmed, that reprioritizing staff would be on the agenda. But, honestly this was our 3rd dismal visit since the rebranding and while we love the pizza, there is a lot left to be desired for dining customers.
