Dewey's should have known better when they converted to Papa John's/Costco style mass production conveyer ovens in an effort to chase BIGGER $$$ and abandon what made them great. Sooner or later that move would come home to roost. Tonight was that night!!! After standing for 15 - 20 minutes waiting for a seat at the bar to watch the games, where everyone else was eating their pizzas, I finally got a seat. As soon as I sat down the bartender ask if I was planning to eat at the bar? I said absolutely!! He quickly ran off to only bring back the manager. Where I was told I would not be served sitting at the bar. 1 of their 2 ovens was broken down and I would be effectively butting in line ahead of the other tables, although I had already waited 20 minutes just for a seat. The most armature manager I've seen in a long time. His attitude and demeaner just pissed me off!!
Instead of basically kicking me out and say he wasn't going to serve me...All he had to say, is 1 of our 2 cheap high production Papa John's ovens is broken, and it will be XXX minutes to get a pizza. I could then determine if I want to sit and enjoy a couple beers and watch the NCAA games while waiting or go somewhere else. But at a minimum I'm given the choice to stay or go. His way, I was basically told to hit the road.
To anyone who reads this, you need to try Two Cities Pizza in Mason, it's really good!!! The pizza market is so over saturated every single customer counts. I'm thinking Dewey's has peaked and is now just milking the cow!! It will be a Looooong time before I even...
Read moreWas hoping for my fav spot, but could not be seated there because no waittress was assigned to that spot. The staff member assisting me stated i could have a cramped seat next to a large noisy party or sit at the bar.
Looking at the open seating of 25+ it was a little beyond me why a repeat customer could not be seated as desired.
Not knowing the pizza or restaurant business, i asked the staff member what happens when the assigned-waitress seats are all filled. His response, "We tell customers to wait."
He also added that with so few waitresses, if the 25+ seating area were to be opened, staff would not hit their "goals."
I wondered, whats more important, staff goals or customer goals? How long of a wait before customers leave? Of the customers that leave after seeing ample seating and were told to wait, which of them actually return?
Given my level of disgust, it was not worth mentioning to staff member who, like all the other staff, are not allowed to think about customer goals.
So, I sat at the bar :/ Food was good, but ironically the customer service was only adequate. Perhaps they needed to shut down more...
Read moreI've always found that Dewey's Pizza was the best, great flavor, great toppings, great service, great atmosphere; but at Harpers Point yesterday, I encountered rudeness from the very beginning. I didn't know there was a special carry out entrance and came in the wrong door. That was the first rude encounter when I was told where I needed to be. The carryout area looks like the back door of a warehouse. It doesn't make one feel very good about the food that one is picking up. Individuals were not being waited on based on who was their first. When the food was finally presented, the gentleman was quite rude: I wasn't certain what the humor was about. When I finally got to my car, I was stunned at the lack of ingredients on the pizza. We had asked for extra sauce and there was at least 2 inches of crust all the way around and very limited sauce and very limited ingredients. The house salad was poorly made with almost none of the normal expected ingredients. It just felt like a bad joke. I will go on loving Dewey's Pizza in Clifton and in Dent on Harrison, but will never return to...
