What can I say, we have been there numerous times and each and every time the service and food have been excellent! The atmosphere is extremely pleasant with Mexican/Spanish themed decor which really lends itself to an authentic feel as well as being open and airy. The perimeter is lined with nice sized comfortable booths with table seating arranged in the center areas of the room. At the far end one finds a large open fireplace with flamelike lit sconces which during cooler winter months no doubt makes the room extremely inviting but on the opposite end, near the entry, one finds a large open Tortilla grill where at times you can view them being freshly made as serving demand requires! Once seated and provided with handsomely bound leather menus, fresh chips and two scooping options (salsa and warm bean dip), you can perouse the fairly large and descriptive menu. The menu is well laid out, as well as featuring colorful pictorial images of each item accompanied with a well written description. Yes, some people are put off by menus formatted this way (ie: Denny’s), but truth is, the pics are somewhat artsy not to mention lays aside many a fear of having to ask what exactly is a Caldo Res? (my dining companion would have been lost without the picture!). We have experienced both the lunch and dinner menus, which both have featured excellent specials from time to time (so be sure to ask!). Not only have our meals been excellent on all occasions featuring fresh ingredients and what seems to be quite authentic recipes, but the presentation goes above and beyond. For what has become a traditional (and expected) single oval plate affair with rice and beans framing a central entre, Antojos ups the ante. By using distinctive service ware in various shapes, sizes and glaze, the meal presentation is both casually elegant and appealing to the eye as it showcases your meal rather than just supporting it. Some favorites that we have enjoyed during our visits and highly recommend are: Pollo en Mole, Enchiladas Cochinita, Chicken Fajitas (presentation A+), Beef Tacos, Taco Salad with Chicken (delicious and refreshing), Chicken Mole Enchiladas, Quesabritas (see pic on menu..lol). Most everything is served with refried beans plus a delicious take on Mexican style rice. In addition, be sure to look over the bar menu which features a large selection of authentic Mexican libations (both with or without alcohol, ie: Bahamas Lemonade) with an especially nice selection of Margaritas which are featured during half off Happy Hours 2p-5p and 9p to close Mo thru Fr. Overall the 6th Ave Antojos is a great place for lunch or dinner where the meaning and understanding of quality and friendly service definitely seems to shine. A wide variety of authentic dishes in a comfortable and casual environment along with reasonable prices that don't...
Read moreGirl I am sorry but this resturaunt is such a joke to me. The menu is honestly kinda of weird and discombobulating. The food was alright like I’d come back but not by my own choice.. now let’s get to the funny part.
1.They litterally are trying to push knock of juaritos (favoritos) on you so damn bad they offer it with almost everything on the menu. Like I don’t want it. There’s a picture or mention of it on almost every page of their several page menu and it’s honestly funny.
A single fountain soda cost 4.79!!!!!??!? That is literally over $20 after tax for a family of 4, that’s just outrageous. & the soda wasn’t good the syrup ratio was off
I ordered street tacos, never have I gone ANYWHERE not a taco truck, not a Mexican restaurant, not Southern California Mexican food where I didn’t receive lime and radish with my tacos but whatever I asked for lime. What it did come with was an entire uncut grilled onion and a grilled jalepeno lmao like what am I going to do with that. I didn’t read the menu properly my fault. But it was called the taco combo, I just assumed that meant rice and beans on the side (NOOOOO THE “COMBO” was tacos and a FAVORITOS soda abahahahha)
My dad doesn’t drink alcohol or tap water. He asked if they had water bottles (they were on the menu) they kept saying no we’re out, so he then asked if they have ginger ale, the girl had no clue what that was, okay fine, he then asked do you guys have hot tea? And her response was “we have sweet tea” on what planet does any resturaunt not have tea bags. My dad says okay then I’m all right (he has NO drink), oh well they were suddenly able to muster up a water bottle idk what that was about. Perhaps wanting us to spend an extra $5 or more on a drink
The kids meal seemed like it was kind of pricy almost $10 which isn’t outrageous.. I’ve just been to much nicer restaurants lately and they’re cheaper there. But I will say it did come with a FAVORITOS lmao
6.their only tamale option is chicken and that irritated me I hate chicken and I feel like there should always...
Read moreFirst impression the restaurant was dark and a little cluttered with coat racks next to the tables. We were handed giant leather bound menus that were a little confusing and awkward to handle. My menu had dried beans and other dried food on the pages. I don't know about the other one. The street tacos were huge. They were served on soft taco sized flour tortillas. We tried a fish taco and a shrimp taco. We asked for no raw onion. Both were loaded with onions. The fish and shrimp were very overcooked and the shrimp was rubbery and hard to chew. Didn't even try the fish it was so burnt. We also got the pupusas. They tasted more like they used corn meal instead of masa. They were a bit tough and chewy like they were heated in the microwave. The curtido was sour and super oniony. All I could taste was onions and vinegar. It took forever to get water and menus then when our food came no one came back again at all. They didn't even notice that we weren't eating our food. We sat for over 20 minutes waiting for someone to come back, at the very least, to bring the bill. We finally went up to the cash register where 3 staff members were standing and visiting. The manager did take the tacos off the bill because we couldn't eat them at all. They are new, so I hope they can actually pull...
