Situated near the Grocery Outlet on 6th Ave - Gyro Bites is a small restaurant that is tucked in the outskirts of the adjacent strip mall. We discovered this place about a year ago. I, personally, wanted chicken shawarma. We chose Gyro Bites for the variety offered on the menu. This place did not disappoint. It appears that the vast majority of business is done via food delivery apps. That said - they do have dine-in available (seating for about 12-18 inside and a table for 2 outside). Today we ordered the Super Gyro and the Tzatziki with pita bread (plus 4 additional orders of pita). One thing I find enjoyable is the amount of aromatic spices used in the food. The gyro meat has this warm, almost curry-like, spice blend on it that is amazing. The quantity of tzatziki is more than enough to share - though we advise ordering extra bread. They do have a check-in system to earn points (admittedly I always forget until I have left). The staff is super friendly, and service quick. It has become or go to place from Greek food in the Tacoma area. We definitely recommend this place!

Absolutely LOVE this place!!! You KNOW you’re in the right spot, when you walk in and there are four Old Greek Guys, sitting there talking in their native Greek tongue. This is actually the first time I’ve remembered to take pics before eating for my review; it’s so good, I always eat and then realize I didn’t take pics first! Try the Super Gyro; it’s the bomb! The Dolmas, are super tasty! The Spanakopita is delish. The Lg Greek Salad is huge; enough for two or a meal in its own. We will have to try other things soon, but are resistant to miss out on our favs! Thanks to the Owner and Chefs; it’s hard to find good Greek style foods with authentic flair. As for take-out, these make the trip back home well and are none the worse for wear. EDIT: Just had the Baklava and it was AMAZING! For something you’ve probably never tried before, check out the FayRouz pomegranate drink... it’s different.

Ordered a Lamb Shawarma and a super gyro online, 1:56 am, arrived 2:20 like the app said, however, didn’t get my food until 2:35 am, then it was the wrong order. I received two regular gyro. When returned to informed that my order was wrong, the gentleman opened the boxes and start picking through both sandwiches and proceeded to show me that he made right. However, in the 13 years I’ve been full Halal I’ve never had a Shawarma that looked like a gyro and their super gyros that I’ve gotten in the past were very generous. However, instead offering to remake or refund he continues to say it’s right even showing me my online receipt, however, I didn’t receive what I order I even showed pics of what shawarma’s supposed to look like and how there’s a clear distinction between the two. He kept saying his English wasn’t great, I’m like but your eyes are and shawarma do not look the exact same. I informed him I’m Muslim too and even offered to converse in Arabic to assist with the language barrier and he just kept showing me the online receipt. After 8 minutes of explaining and trying to get a resolution I just let it go and walked out. No order correction, no refund. Even retied the bag and added more napkins and condiments like he just made me a fresh order. Kinda sucks as this is the only Halal menu that’s open that late in the area.

Ordered online through storefront DoorDash. *Mind you: prices were different through the different sites. Super sketch. I ordered the Falafel Salad and it was so basic and did not resemble the picture they had advertised on the site. There was no feta cheese or hummus on the salad. The falafel was dry and the entire salad was dry! There was a very thin streak of sauce that was on the salad. Tomato overload: instead of one type of tomato, they killed the salad with 2 types - sliced and cherry. Only had five greek olives (I would've loved more). Atop of all the sadness that was my salad, the worker behind the counter kept yelling at me about "the app, the app! You have to have the app to confirm your purchase...!" I explained that I received a text that confirmed that it was ready - my phone doesn't have enough storage to download the stinkin app. The other worker was nice enough to just hand me the ONLY CONTAINER that was on the side table near the counter. Go figure! I kept asking "is it the Falafel Salad? If it is that's what I ordered" - Instead, my question basically went unanswered with the counter guy continuing to mention about the app. I was done. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

As others have mentioned, the meat was very poor quality. I ordered a large amount of food and it all came ruined because it was placed on beds of lettuce. My onion rings, samosas, and spanakopita we're all goopy mush instead of crispy like they're supposed to be as they've absorbed all the water from the lettuce. Hot fried foods shouldn't be placed on beds of lettuce especially in takeaway orders like mine. The "lamb" tasted like low quality ground beef that was burned crispy on one side with cinnamon and allspice, and didn't have the sauce on top like the pictures. Instead it was a translucent mess that looked like meat grease and tasted bad. I've been to many Middle Eastern/Greek restaurants selling gyros etc. and would have to say this is the worst. I'm throwing it in the garbage and just wasted over $40.

Walked in and it was a bit busy with mostly pick up orders one other 2 person party was in front of us and a one person dine in order behind us. Took 17 minutes for order to be taken and another 45 minutes for the food to come out not to mention the one person order came out before ours. We ordered a Gyro & chicken salad hummus mix mixed grill plate and Greek samosas. All the Meat and rice was warm at best except for the long steak on the mixed grill plate that was freshly off the grill as were the pita slices. The fried Greek samosas were room temperature. For as long as we waited I was expecting everything to have been super fresh and off the grill. Very disappointed but probably should have gotten a clue with a weird foods show (worms insects ect) playing on their tv the whole time we were waiting.
