Came in today and asked for a piece of GLUTEN FREE Bannana bread. The man working behind the counter told me it came from a different facility so I asked if I could get a new piece that hasn't been out in the case (I'm a celiac) he told me no and that he has worked in a cafe for a very long time and he knows what he is talking about that it indeed was safe because it hasn't been on a plate with anything else. I said ok and proceeded to get a piece. He then grabs it with the same tongs he used for everything else?? (I thought he knew what he was talking about??) He then walked off (never said anything, never came back) and someone else began helping us. I asked if I could get another piece with different tongs. He said yes but then warned me that the GF banana bread had been on a plate earlier in the day with other items that weren't gluten free. I give 2 stars because I should at least give the truthful man credit. BUT it is DANGEROUS to LIE to someone who could become very ill from being exposed to an allergen. This is very unprofessional and the man needs more training or a new job. Not to mention he wasn't helpful or nice at all. Its unfortunate. My very first time and I will not be...
Read moreMeh, coffee is ok at best, speaking as a former barista at a high-end cafe. That didn't bother me. The vibe is relaxing you can work and avoid social interactions with the rest of the remote workers that use it as a working space. The baristas on the other hand were snobby and rude. Give people a moment to order, don't make them feel like dirt because they don't understand your menu. Not everyone is from a big coffee culture. I came in with my partner who is from not a place that has coffee like us. A worker literally turned around and stared at him when he asked me how I knew what to order. The person taking the order also looked at us like we weren't their "preferred" clientele.
It's so fascinating to me how people in coffee can be so rude to their customers instead of using it as an opportunity to educate about something you are passionate about. And honestly this isn't just a Bluebeard issue. I have come in several times over the last 2 years of living in Tacoma and waited to leave this review until now. The treatment of my partner was the tipping point. Just don't act like your customers are dumb, that's all. Why would we want to spend our money here if that is how we...
Read moreOld school hip hop playing, cool vibes, and great smells. I was excited to try this place out after a coworker recommended it. I wasn’t disappointed. I tried a double of the Narrows first. It was a really bright, summery roast with strong citrus notes. That style is not my “cup o espresso”, so I perused the bags and read the descriptions. I chatted with the barista (perhaps owner - blonde gentleman with a flat billed ball cap on - very nice guy/very knowledgeable, which is why I thought manager/owner). When I ordered I thought I was trying the Columbia because I looked at the wrong signage (my fault!), but he kindly offered me a shot of the Columbia on the House! Totally blown away by the awesome customer service. With the first sip of the Columbia, I started walking back to the bags and picked one up. Brewed it in my machine this am and it is still top notch! Thank you! You have yourself a solid new customer!
(Side note: I would like to apologize to anyone I spoke with after...
