Read moreAs much as I love to support black own businesses......My husband made reservations online to dine at the restaurant earlier in the day. We arrived at the same time as another group of people did so we were sat immediately along with them (the other table and us were the only people there). 15 mins into it, we received our drinks (water & a strawberry lemonade). Thirty minutes into it, the other table received their food. Were still waiting even though our order was placed 2 mins after theirs....15 mins later another set of customers came and were seated, the original table received additional food to go and left. Btw were still waiting......20 mins later the new set of people received their food. I finally spoke up and alerted staff that we had been there over an hour and hadn't received any food or an explanation explaining the hold up. The cook came out and apologized for the misunderstanding and about 8 mins later we received our food.
The waitress never came to apologized for most likely giving our food to a takeout order or even for the inconvenience. She never checked on us after giving us the initial drinks. The food was subpar and tasted bland. It is very rare that I leave bad reviews, feel free to check my history but the way that this place conducts business is beyond unprofessional and for a long wait and $60, I can honestly say don't...

The artists that are the cooks of this restaurant have gifted our area with the absolute, hands down, best catfish outside of the South (and really, may just be the best period.) I grew up eating fried catfish almost weekly and since moving to the PNW, have struggled to find a place that really gets it. Huge, thick pieces of fish, glistening with juice, and perfectly seasoned breading. And unlike other places where they do one dish amazingly and just okay on others, DND has somehow achieved the impossible by making equally exquisite fried chicken wings. And don’t get me started on those collard greens! I could eat a bathtub full of them!
It breaks my heart that we discovered this gem during a trip (which we rearranged so we could visit this place twice before leaving), and we live almost three hours away, so now we’ll have to either pine away with the memories of how utterly delicious this place is or just ya know, do a six hour journey… which may just happen.
If you’re in Tacoma and you’re not eating here as often as your wallet allows, you’re missing out. Really missing out. Eat...
