I've tried East West several times in the past 4 years. I really want to like the food, and haven't given a review thus far because I'm hoping they'll improve. I've eaten at a lot of excellent Thai restaurants so I guess my 1 star is in comparison to those places. I had Phad See Ew take out tonight and it wasn't good...no real flavor and the veggies looked old. The tofu was dried out and spongy as if it had been sitting around for a few days. My wife had Panang Curry Chicken and it was also very bland. The reason I do take out from East West now is that the restaurant seating area consistently has this funky smell...and the bathrooms are consistently gross. Thai restaurants aren't known for their clean restrooms, but this place takes it to another level of dirty. The intention of my 1 star review is maybe inspire them to improve, not hurt them. I do want them to be successful but after a few years of trying to like East West its time for me to let them go and drive a little further for quality, tasty Thai food. Sorry...
Read moreBEST hidden gem in Proctor! (But maybe not for long.) We were visiting from out of town and wanted to eat out on a Friday night. After looking at reviews, we chose this place for the photos of the food and good ratings. As we walked past a Mexican restaurant on the corner it was packed. We accidentally passed East West once because we weren’t being very observant. When coming back and walking in, the restaurant was empty and it made us second guess our choice. We were the only ones dining in at that time. The waiter was very polite and friendly. He checked on us just the right amount to make sure we didn’t need anything, but not so often to be annoying. He also politely let my son know he might prefer a different curry because the one he had picked was one of the least popular dishes. My son took his advice and was happy that he did. Both our entrees were DELICIOUS! I’d eat here again in...
Read moreI was initially drawn in by the bubble tea neon sign. To offer a time of day, this was shortly past 5pm and unfortunately the bubble tea was deeply flawed by the tapioca pearls. 80% of them were inedible due to hard centers. They also were dissolving and coloring the drink more than I'm used to.
I ordered their Beef Pho to go (they don't offer a variety where you get to pick brisket, flank, tripe, etc to be noted). They fall into the category of combining sauces into one single to-go cup, which isn't useful cause I like to have my own ratio.
The quantity of protein was fantastic, a little short on jalapeno slices as well as basil leaves - the broth was also darker than what I'm used to seeing (I love Pho). While I wouldn't write off the restaurant (the menu has a ton of variety to try), but I would not recommend for the bubble tea...
