So everytime we have attempted to go to Cactus, we are met with dissapointments! The wait times have either been too long or the place is full so I got the idea that they must be feeding all Tacoma inhabitants🤪 Well today I showed up and lo and behold, not only did we get a table but the place was quite Empty to my surprise. We had the pleasure of getting a good waiter " Christine" she was friendly and helpful and kept checking up on us. We decided to see what the hype was and explore the Menu. My pallate is quite adventurous and am all about the flavors. For starters we ordered Peruvian Prawn scallop ceviche , The Austin style Guacamole and Crab 🫔 tamales. The meals came pretty Quick and Let me put it this way, the pairings on the Ceviche, the layers of the various ingredients ,used was just divinely so good. 👏 Now am used to the traditional Guacamole but Cactus had something else planned. Their 3 layers Guacamole with Queso, salsa, Chipotle peppers was so Good!! And a must try. The Crab Tamale has to be the most creative way to serve tamale that I have seen on my foodie adventures. There was Crab, then a 🫔 tamale ontop of sweet corn, sherry tomatillo cream sauce, avocado, mixed baby heirloom tomatoes, lemon vinaigrette, micro arugula. It was absolutely delish. The combination of flavors and texture was everything. We did not just have a meal but a Journey into the heart of the chef's who prepped this meals. For desert we had the Banana dulce with coconut ice cream and the manager surprised us with a complimentary Flan as well . ***So overall we got great service and a wonderful meal experience *** ****Thank you Cactus ****

Cactus in Proctor is a lively spot for a meal, offering a fun atmosphere and good service, though there are a few challenges to note. Parking in the area is tricky. I couldn’t find a spot in the angled street parking and ended up parking at Metropolitan Market nearby, making a quick purchase to justify it. If you’re lucky, you might snag street parking, but it’s definitely a bit of a hassle. We visited on a Thursday night, and the place was pretty busy and lively with a fun atmosphere. Despite the crowd, we were seated quickly, which was nice. They were out of booths but offered us a half booth. The waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive, checking in on us regularly and making sure we had everything we needed. We both ordered fajitas, and while the vegetables were cooked well and the sauce complemented the dish, the overall flavor of the fajitas fell a bit flat compared to other Mexican restaurants. The food is very Americanized not as authentic Mexican but still decent. It wasn’t bad, but it could use a little more seasoning or flair to stand out. The seating arrangement is a bit tight, with the booths placed close together. Unfortunately, the group next to us was quite drunk and loud, which impacted the overall dining experience. This is something to keep in mind if you’re looking for a quieter meal. It’s nice if you’re going for that high energy vibe though. Overall, Cactus has a fun atmosphere with decent food and great service. Parking was not optimal but you might get luckier than me!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Cactus restaurant, and I must say, it was an outstanding culinary experience. This gem of a Mexican eatery not only boasts fresh, locally sourced ingredients, but also a tantalizing menu that left me truly impressed.

One of the things I appreciate most about Cactus restaurant is the wide variety of entrees to choose from. Whether you're in the mood for classic tacos, sizzling fajitas, or mouthwatering enchiladas, this place has it all. Every single time I have visited, I've left feeling satisfied and delighted with my meal.

Aside from the delectable cuisine, the staff at Cactus restaurant truly went above and beyond to make my dining experience exceptional. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted with warm and friendly smiles. The waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and always available to answer any questions or assist with recommendations. Their outstanding service truly added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant.

Now, let's talk about desserts. Oh, my goodness! The desserts at Cactus restaurant are simply divine. The homemade churros, decadent flan, and refreshing mango sorbets are just a few of the heavenly delights that grace their dessert menu. Each dessert is beautifully presented, and the flavors are simply delightful. Trust me when I say, you'll want to save room for these sweet treats.

And let's not forget about brunch! Cactus restaurant is a fantastic place to enjoy a delightful brunch on the weekends. The menu features an array of mouthwatering options, from huevos rancheros to breakfast burritos bursting with flavor. Pair that with their refreshing cocktails like the classic Bloody Mary or their signature mimosas, and you've got yourself a perfect weekend feast.

In conclusion, Cactus restaurant has proven time and time again to be a reliable and exceptional dining destination. Its commitment to using fresh, locally sourced ingredients is evident in the quality of the food, and the staff's attentiveness and helpfulness only elevate the overall experience. Whether you're stopping by for a delicious dinner, a tempting dessert, or a delightful weekend brunch, you're sure to leave Cactus restaurant with a smile on your face and a...

I don't understand the hype or the wonderful reviews of this place. We were very excited to eat at Cactus, because of the really good reviews. When we got there it was very difficult to find parking, and It took us over an hour to get seated. They text you to tell you that you are on the waitlist, but that to check your place in line you must use the Yelp app. We tried to do this and could not ever get it to work, until I rebooted the app. By this time we had received a text that our table was almost ready.

The food was terribly disappointing. The presentation was fantastic. The food looked really good, but was not even warm. It totally lacked flavor. The portions were surprisingly small for what you normally get at a Mexican restaurant. My wife got the fajitas, and there was nothing sizzling on the pan. There were no red or green onions. They were incredibly blaw.

Our waitress did not look like she wanted to be there. She put off really negative energy. Her service was very lackluster. You can have really good food and it all can be ruined by your waiter/waitress. You can have mediocre food and have a really good wait person, and end up happy. I don't understand why restaurants don't focus more heavily on quality of service from their staff. If they are not providing top notch service then get rid of them! On a positive note, the person who brought us our food, was not our waitress, and he nailed everyone's order, and we all got our food pretty close to the same time. In addition, someone brought us flan for desert since it was our first time dining there. The flan was fantastic, and he seemed much friendlier than our waitress. I am not sure why it was this person, and not our waitress to bring us the flan. If it was the manager, he should have introduced himself, and tried just a little harder to make a connection with us. Ask us about our experience and show genuine concern. A missed opportunity for sure.

Overall, the whole experience was just very disappointing. Our food, and service is so much better and cheaper at El Toro in Spanaway, than this over-hyped place in Proctor. It just made me appreciate El...

When I checked in before 5pm and asked if I could order from Happy Hour menu the very friendly hostess at the front desk suggested I could go probably back and order in the bar. I had my grandson with me so we couldn’t sit there.

But when I got back to bar I was told I wouldn’t be able to order there for a table not in the bar. They had the manager come out and talk to me. Not a cheerful person, she said if they offered happy hour prices to the whole restaurant she’d have to hire more staff.

Next when ordering drinks at my table in the family part of the restaurant, I noted to the waitress that two of us would be getting the kids meals that included the lemonade options and we wanted one regular lemonade and one strawberry lemonade. Two grandsons under 12 were part of my party, along with myself and my daughter in law.

I wanted a favorite item from the kids menu and one of my grandsons did too. But the second grandson ordered an adult meal, as did his Mom. He also ordered a drink from the regular menu. When I got the bill, there were charges for the two lemonade drinks (totalling $11) that I thought should have been included with the two kid meals. But no, I couldn’t switch with my one grandson who got an adult menu drink, the waitress told me, since I drank the kids menu strawberry lemonade and I’m an adult she’d have to charge me $6, but she’d credit $5 for the lemonade my younger grandson drank that shouldn’t have been charged. She told me she shouldn’t even have let me order a kids meal that I was going to eat, she could potentially get in trouble with the manager.

I was so dismayed by this experience that I’m probably not going to go to Cactus again, and it’s been a family favorite in the past, with several visits a year typically. I spent over $118 to end up feeling like my business...
