Latitude 84 — Restaurant in Tacoma

I wish that this review could be 5 stars. The drinks are great, the clientele and facilities are immaculate, and the staff here are exceptional in both service and personability, with one exception. One of the bouncers who currently works there is bigoted and makes it an unsafe place for queer people. In both encounters I've had with him, he shows nothing but hostility and disrespect towards those who do not fit the sexual and gender binary. My first encounter was March 29th, where he was giving me and my girlfriend the stink eye all night and then pushed the limits of acceptable disdain when he barged into the women's bathroom and told us to leave while we were applying makeup in a very forceful and scary manner. Under the pretence that the interaction would turn violent, we left after paying our tab. After this event, I reached out to the manager with the help of sympathetic staff, and I was promised that I and my girl would be allowed back and staff would be reminded of the equal service policy. The event gave me trauma around going out to drink in public, and it took a while to accept that invitation back. On April 11 I felt the courage to go out again, so I and my party went here again. The only thing we found there was the same bouncer who again turned us away for the same queerphobic reasons. These events have heavily affected my mental health, and despite multiple attempts to reach out, management has stayed silent. I'm here to issue a warning to all minority groups hoping to go here to be very careful, as I don't believe I had even the worst experience this man perpetrated. Until he is gone, avoid the Latitude 84 at all costs if you value your safety and sanity. I met my girlfriend here and have had a number of great experiences. Drinks are cheap tasting - the people are older 40's+ a mixture of cultures so it seems to be decent in that aspect, but the food... Hit my stomach in a matter of minutes. If you looking for everything cheap besides their prices- this be the spot. Chicks are average looking- guys look like they there for nothing other than the ladies. It was Saturday 10:30🕥 at night the music turned bad📀 (thought it was to attract the white people or something) then couple minutes later a big spot light was turned on in one area - I thought they needed to see better cause some them chicks🐣 needed to be seen in the day light🐷guys too don't get me wrong🐗...20 minutes later a hefty sized guy yells, 📢"Get out!"📣 Uh ok that was about as stupid/crusty/tacky as the food/drinks/creepy men and willing women. The only thing I can say I appreciated was the fact that the crowd was mixed no discrimination no jealously just chill. Keep those vibes and you'll maintain a crowd, but maybe list your hours for the sake of people like me who were hungry 🌭🌮and needed a drink 🥃that didn't taste so awful. The adult beverages here are fantastic. I have been here twice. The atmosphere was different both times. When the sun goes down and darkness fall, around 11 it can attract an interesting group of people. The reason I didn't give it a 5 star is I was told that the police stop by frequently especially near closing. Witnessed that myself on one of the nights.
