This visit to Applebee’s was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had. We arrived with a larger party of people and were asked to wait 30 minutes to be seated because of a “shift change”. A look around the restaurant during this shift change revealed numerous servers standing around on their phones and talking. We eventually sat down at the bar not because of the workers being nice but because we told them we’re not waiting that long just to get a seat. (There were other groups of people eating inside already.) After sitting down, it took more than 20 minutes to get anyone to come take our orders. When our orders were taken the waitress made snarky remarks aimed at insulting our party. Eventually, after their “shift change” occurred we were moved to a larger table outside with a waiter. Right off the bat he took 20 minutes to come out and say anything to us (yes we started timing things). The rest of the night was plagued with extremely slow service and forgetfulness by our waiter. We asked for things such as silverware (for a meal that can only be eaten with a fork) and we had to remind him numerous times. This was also the case with drink refills. Getting a refill was a joke and it required us to go inside, ask someone, then maybe if we were lucky our waiter would come out 5 or 10 minutes later. One person in our party ordered food and waited over an hour because the waiter forgot to put in the order. When reminded, he acted like it was no big deal and brushed it off. We eventually asked for a manager to notify them of what was going on and one came out to talk to us. We told her of the forgotten orders, the always empty drinks, and us never seeing our waiter and she said “I’m sorry I was in the back office for the past hour and unable to notice what was going on.” This was a blatant lie as she had come out 20 minutes before to bring a set of silverware. She made excuses for her server saying that despite her telling the server not to take on two parties, he decided to do so and this was the reason for the hold up. This shows astronomically poor leadership because it is your job as a manager to make sure everything is running smoothly in your restaurant, not to sit in the back and hide (then lie about it later). It also shows that the manager does not have control over her employees if she tells them to do one thing and they decide to do another. The restaurant was not short staffed whatsoever either. I walked in to ask for silverware and found two waitresses joking around on their phones at the hostess desk. (Plus while walking to the bathroom I noticed many more doing the same as the inside had maybe 3 groups of people.) It was over the top ridiculous and showed a complete disregard for Applebee’s care of customers. Overall, this was one of the worse restaurant experiences I’ve ever had and neither I nor anyone that was with me will be back to this Applebee’s. Maybe if they start to lose more business corporate will take notice and try...
Read moreWe were in Tallahassee for the weekend and decided to stop at Applebee's for dinner on the way back home, never had a bad experience at an Applebee's in the past. First off the hostess tells us there is going to be a 5 to 10 minute wait to get seated when there is barely anyone there. The table we sat at hadn't been cleaned properly, and there was a mess of food laying on the floor no one cleaned up the whole time we were there. Plenty of people standing around doing nothing. We waited for about 20 minutes or more and after no server came around we grabbed someone ourselves. We placed an order and thought the communication was clear between us and the server. My fiancee's drink and the appetizer came out fine. However, we had ordered fries and the mac and cheese for sides for both our dishes. I got fries and she got the mac and cheese, when confronted about this they took off one of the up charges, but it should have been 2. The chicken strips I had tasted old and dry, so I asked for barbecue sauce to see if that would help, it did not. We asked to speak with the manager since most of our food was inedible and all the mistakes. Also the mac and cheese looked like something you would feed to a dog not a human. The manager looked and acted very unprofessional he halfheartedly apologized and said he would take it off the bill. Never once offered a solution other than taking some off the bill and didn't even ask us if what he was taking off sounded reasonable. So we wait for him to apply the discount and it was only $6 off. Once see this we asked to talk with a manager again, they said the GM was there and she would come talk with us, which never happened we got the same dude as before... He claims he couldn't go back and discount it more or redo the ticket as their system wouldn't allow that.. We got the info for his boss(es) and will talking to them soon. I asked him if he would pay $28 for a drink and some mozzarella sticks which left him speechless, he knows full well he wouldn't. If you want a way to waste your money get bad food and AWFUL customer service this is the place to go. Also judging but recent other reviews this is a common problem and someone really needs to address it or just shut the...
Read moreMy family and I came to Applebees to enjoy half priced apps. When we first came in our server Fatima came over and asked what we wanted to drink. When we asked about the drink specials she directed us to the menu instead of rattling off drink specials like our usual Applebees servers would. She seems annoyed by our inquiry and asked if we wanted her to get us water. We felt inclined to say yes because of her tone. Due to her lack of knowledge we decided to get beer. The beer was 2 for 1 and she brought both beers out at the same time all though only one person ordered beer.when our food came out the kids meal did not come out all together and only one out of two adults received there quesadilla. It took a while for us to receive all of our food but it finally all came to the table. Since it took a while to get all the food on the table we decided to ask for the check immediately so we did not have to wait for it when we were ready to leave. When the check came none of our apps were half so we told our server. The server insisted we give her the card to pay so that when she fixed the mistake she could run the card she was very stern in her approach so we gave her the card. She took the check and walked away when she walked toward the back I literally heard her ask for help. When she returned only 2 of 3 of our apps were comped off. So I got her attention once more and this time I asked for the manager. When we asked for the manager she flipped the receipt book open and pointed to the discounted price implying we should be happy that the total had decreased. She told us that the manager helped her fix the check and it should for sure be right. When the manager came I told him only 2 out of 3 of our apps were comped off and instead of apologizing he states she only told me there was 2 apps. As a manager reviewing an employees mistakes he should have caught that mistake himself but instead he blamed it all of the employee. He takes the check and then comes back and states the sever with give us 6 dollars since she had already ran the card. Not once did he apologize or give any sympathy to our situation. When he server came back she brought us 5 dollars...
