So....I check out of the hotel at 3:30pm and I trekked to Birds Aphrodisiacs Oyster Bar today, Sunday, to find it closed.😔 Not open until 6pm...I forgot about "Sunday hours" in Tally. As I turned around to walk away to the street, I stopped and thought, I'm gonna take a peek inside, to see what my newly-FSU-graduated niece found so special about it (the karaoke, especially, but others said the oysters, the fries, and the burgers!) ....As I peered my face against the glass with my hand, I saw a man sitting at the bar with the basketball game on. I felt embarrassed and as I pulled away, he came over to unlock the door. I introduced myself and explained how I was referred here from a bartender in Palm Beach and that my niece sang karaoke here and that I was alone awaiting my flight, in 4.5 hours. I said "I'm sorry I didn't think to check the hours, and could he kindly recommend a place nearby?" He asked if I liked oysters and I replied...that's why I came here..... He hesitated and said, "Aww, c’mon in....." I was shocked and smiled with excitement..." I said, "Really??? Wow! My name is Stephany, what's yours? " He said, "Nice to meet you...I'm Bird." Bird proceeded to shuck 12 fresh Blue Point oysters for me as we reminisced about how he's been here all his life and all the places I went to when I was here at FSU...what a special occasion this has been.❤️ So make sure to come see Bird.....Southern hospitality and incredible food & atmosphere!!...
Read moreWhere do I start… not enough servers for how busy it was. When asking for water it never showed up until 20 mins later. The fans were on high and we asked if they could be turned down and was told no it’s either on or off…. Then the server bolted off. No conversation between staff they were short, rude and kept telling us to wait and that they had to do etc before we could speak. I understand being busy but we were all patient and nice to them without demanding anything. Drinks weren’t even refilled. The band started and the speakers are blown on top of it being so loud you can’t hear the lyrics. Zero sound check. We asked to cancel our order since we weren’t hungry anymore and they kept saying it was coming. Visibly saw the kitchen staff and servers arguing about the order which was oysters and side of onion rings. Food finally came out an hour later but it was cold because of the fans and ac blasting to where we had to move outside and stand because there was no tables available. Multiple other customers were upset too and said it was ridiculous. Parking lot is so small you can’t even find a spot unless you get there at 5 or you catch someone leave. This used to be the only issue so I never really minded that. The bathrooms were SO FILTHY. Honestly I won’t go back and this place needs to be checked by the...
Read moreSadly, this is the last time I'm going to this restaurant. I've been there twice before and each time I've gone it's gotten worse. We went last night as a group of four and when we sat down at a table the bartender was fairly quick to ask us what we wanted to drink and bring them. Then we sat there for nearly 20 minutes watching The Waitresses go back and forth. Finally we stopped one and asked who our waitress will be and she said I guess it will be me. From the time we ordered our food, which was basically four orders of a dozen oysters on the half shell, nearly an hour went by while we watched other people who got their long after us get served their oysters. We finally found our waitress and ask what the holdup is and she said she would check. We didn't see her for another 10 minutes. The bartender passed our table again to see if we wanted more drinks and we then asked him what the story was and explain to him that others have already been served I got here after us. He went and checked and within a few minutes we come to find out that our order was never put in. Finally, after another 15 minutes are oysters started to come out but at no point was there any apology...
