City man’s version of seafood. If you can take the hour drive to the coast, save your money and just enjoy a nice trip to the gulf. Where you can find real seafood.
This place is a pathetic excuse of an upscale seafood house. Serving crabs that are way under legal size for harvest and should have been thrown back. Our blue crabs ranged from 2.5-3 inches in diameter from spike to spike where legal catch size is 5 inches in diameter from spike to spike. Which was proven to be inadequate sizes when cracked open and claws were mostly hallow as a sign of either over cooking or undersized catch.
Beside the blatant disrespect for seafood, the quality of cooking was subpar. The only thing that was enjoyable were the basic fried shrimp. The appetizers were bland. Calamari was hard, not even rubbery, I could handle rubbery. The fries were literally just fried potatoes no seasoning. All the seasoning they kept under lock and key for there boils.
Oh so the boils… you mean the poor excuse for steamed seafood in a bag. Again the items in the broils were over cooked, and saturated with seasoning that I would have enjoyed sharing on my calamari breading. You couldn’t even eat the corn because it was mush from sitting in a vat all day waiting to be tossed into your bag when ordered.
Very unenjoyable experience. If you are looking for quality seafood in town, try Harry’s bar and grill. But if you can take the time, go to the coast. Go to Angelo’s in panacea, go out to carabelle, or even out to the island. I promise it’s worth it. You’ll get good food, super personable service, and a beautiful view, instead of staring at giant fake lit up crab hanging from the ceiling. That was tacky as hell.
I can’t say it enough. This is a city man’s idea of low country boils. So it’s is not a low country boil. Do not ever think this is an example of quality boils. This is trash...
Read moreThe food trumps the service. There were 2 large parties when we got there, however we were seated very quickly. I'd imagine the service was due to the large parties already in the restaurant.
The servers wore masks. Our server was pretty nice, she just seemed to be moving around quickly. We got everything we needed so no issues there. The food is AMAZING. While it doesn't look like an upscale restaurant, the price are on the higher end. However, it is well worth it. $130 for 2 people.
The restaurant is large, open and clean. It's a pretty cool place to eat. There is plenty of parking. Plenty of napkins on the table. The meal comes with a bib and gloves.
We both had the build your own combo boil bag with 1/2 pound headless shrimp, Dungeness crab, and lobster tail. Each time I have gone, I had to get a to go bag. I usually fill up on shrimp and potatoes. But round 2 is even better the next day.
If you haven't done it, save ya tokens and just do it. Love the gloves to keep my hands clean while I get down and dirty with the seafood. We only ever go on special occasions. Makes me want to celebrate Mondays or Tuesdays, just to go to...
Read moreThe service is a work in progress. Disappointed in the order mix up for extra salty instead of saucy. The lemon pepper wings were extremely salty. Had to wait initially for the wings (not well done) and the bag boil (salty) Extra 30 minutes I waited after placing order via phone.
What really upset me was eating to realize the wings were extremely salty! I called speaking to 3 people then came to terms that my entire order should be refunded and replace the wings to our taste. The young lady said no problem just bring food back. He goes inside the young lady backslides on the full refund and he was only refunded for the wings. The inconvenience 3 times including the initial phone order. All was disappointing. I used to eat here 1-2 ,times weekly. My food was salty too I just didn't want to return it cook might... Well you know where I'm going. Fried shrimp were delicious.
I will say this same young lady gave us a 20% discount for the mix up for salty instead of saucy.
My order was $60.00. Taking a break for a while. I absolutely love eating crabs.
Had to share this with you. Hopefully, it helps your organization...
