Better Mexican Elsewhere
My family had Sunday dinner at Pepper’s, I was excited about Peppers being so close to my house since Mexican food is my favorite! My wife and I just moved here from Panama City and we enjoyed the Peppers there, and this is so close!
We were seated immediately, had menus, chips and salsa but had to ask for a server to come to our table so we could get drinks and to take our order. She finally arrived at our table for the first time about 15 minutes after we arrived. She was friendly but not very engaging, she brought our drinks and never returned to check on us. We had to stop her in the restaurant to get more chips and drink refills.
She finally brought our food and quickly left, not bothering to ask if needed anything, I ordered steak fajitas, she brought the steak, grilled veggies and corn tortillas but none of the fixings to go with it. My son in law also realized he ordered shredded chicken but received ground beef but to she took off so quickly he had no chance to mention it to her. Again we had to ask the hostess to find our server so I could get the rest of my order.
As the hostess was telling the server what we needed she rolled her eyes. I guess we were an inconvenience to her for whatever it was she was doing in the back, obviously the guests in the restaurant are not her priority.
As we got our food delivered to us the people at table behind us ( who arrived after we did) had already finished and were leaving, too bad we didn’t have that server.
I wish I could say it got better after we received our food but it did not. All of the food was fresh but it had no flavor, I had to salt and pepper my steak and grilled veggies, my wife, daughter and son in law all complained about the bland flavor.
We finished eating and the server has mysteriously disappeared again, not bothering to check on us, or ask if we would like dessert or the check. Again I had to ask the hostess to get the server so I could pay.
We all discussed talking with the manager but decided against it. Typically in a sit down restaurant you see the manager walking around the restaurant talking to guests and assisting the servers. The whole time we were there the manager never made an appearance in the dining room so we felt it was a waste of time. If the manager cared about his establishment he/she would be more involved with it.
My recommendation is, look for another Mexican restaurant, a better one has to be near by. Even though I can walk to this Peppers from my house I will try the El Jalisco...
Read moreThis is the neighborhood joint where you get a bang for your buck.....Tuesday night, after 8:00 pm. so was a little empty inside. My server was great. Prompt order taking and delivery of my drink-2 for 1 margaritas! Yay!-and delivered chips and salsa while I was perusing the menu. I decided on the Banderas Mexicano for there and the Choripollo fajita to go. My server thoughtfully asked if I'd like her to hold onto the order until I was ready for the check, so that it would be hot as I left.
My entree was huge! A ground beef chili verdes enchilada, chicken chimichanga with queso, and a chili rellenos served with rice. Not gonna lie, the queso was a bit heavy and the rellenos was overcooked and bland, but the excellent hot sauce on the table took care of that. For dessert, I had a wondeful homemade flan. Every day should include flan.....
I'm also impressed with their takeout. Too often, takeout is sloppily put together with essemtials left out. Not this. The choripollo fajitas is chicken, chorizo and pineapple fajitas. I left with a bag containing all parts of the fajitas packed separately, and some chipsandsalsa as well.
2 margaritas, 2 entrees and dessert for $39.00. Definitely worth the price.
Ok. Just had the choripollo fajitas that I took home. Wonderful. I'll go back just for this dish! The mix of fajita seasoning, chorizo, onions, chicken and pineapple brought happiness...
Read moreI usually go to peppers for carry out at least once a week, and usually get the California chicken burrito, I used to love it so much, but lately the quality and quantity of the food had decreased drastically. When I first got the burrito the amount of sauce I got on it, now I have to pay extra to get that amount, but since I like it so much I didn't mind, and today when I went to get my carry out my bill was $14.40 for one California chicken burrito, which I think is expensive for a Mexicon restaurant like pepper, on top of that, they have a new special charge for carry out called service charges, because I had a carry out instead of dine-in, which I though was funny, because they don't have to do any work when it's carry out, I don't know why I have to pay them extra to drive to there place and pick my food up, I mean I would get it, if they have service charge for dine-in because they actually have a server helping you and they would be using utensils and plates and stuff, so I was just really confused about that. But now coming to the food, it was horrible!! I had to run to bathroom after that. This is the first time I ever felt like leaving a review, I hate wasting food and especially when i spend so much on it, its the last I am ever...
