My husband and I went in today (2/18/2017) with the intent to pick out and purchase a new couch. When we walked in we were confronted by the sales manager who kindly introduced himself and asked what we were looking for. We informed him we needed a new couch and he briefly explained that people shop at Havertys for the quality and then tried to sell us in to going straight back to the clearance section. He explained that he even shops from the clearance section himself. He explained that of course because it is the clearance section there would be some imperfections and custom orders but that the prices were low. He didn't really introduce us to the main floor at all. So we walk through the store and see the doors to the clearance section, decide to check it out, and it was like walking into a "where the sausage gets made" sort of area. The juxtaposition between this area and the main sales floor was like night and day. It was warehouse in appearance, the pieces were damaged and out dated, and no one was back there to answer our questions or to even attempt in selling us anything. So, we returned to the main floor and proceeded to look at pieces we had actually came to look at and decided not to purchase after overhearing a different salesman welcoming in another couple by introducing them to the main floor, inquiring what they were interested in purchasing, and discussing the store's President's Day weekend sale - a conversation we didn't receive. My husband and I are approaching the ages of 27 and 28. We look younger than most people in their mid-late twenties. We were casually dressed and well kept and clean in appearance. We felt completely written off as people who could not afford to shop at the store we had chosen to do our business at. As if based on a glance at our appearance and our youth that we weren't worthy enough and assumed to not be wealthy enough to do our business at this Havertys location. I am a local school teacher and my husband was previously hired by the state and now employed by FSU while working on his PhD. We are respectable and kind people. We will not be doing our business at this Tallahassee Havertys location for this purchase or future purchases, and we will discourage our family and friends from...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I simply stopped in to see their selection of mattresses and were greeted by a lovely gentleman named Huston! He was very polite and I am so happy that he was the person we happened to encounter when arriving.
He was able to inform us about the different styles and brands of mattresses they carry in detail, and discussed the benefits and disadvantages of each very well. We had a bit of prior knowledge after doing some research at home and visiting a few stores, and he was able to reinforce our hesitations and our excitements about a new mattress with information we had not discovered yet.
The majority of this review is definitely about the salesman himself, but it would be unfair if we also didn’t address the great promotion we were able to take advantage of as well! On a large purchase like a Tempurpedic mattress, we were offered 60 months financing with no interest, if a simple credit application were approved. We are brand new homeowners and were hesitant in making such a large purchase so soon, but the comfort of a new mattress was hard to pass up after hearing about the financing.
At the time of our purchase, there was also a $300 furniture credit when purchasing our mattress, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to look at a new sofa as well. Neither of us had any clue that Haverty’s sells customizable furniture down to the very feel and color of the sofa and pillows we selected!
We were never rushed or pressured to make decisions about our purchase and were given moments of privacy to discuss our decision making, and Huston displayed great patience for customers like myself that ask a lot of questions before committing to a big purchase. We were able to test dozens of fabrics and patterns to personalize our sofa with the right look and feel for our preferences and couldn’t be happier.
I can’t speak for every purchase, but at the time we ordered our products, we were offered free shipping, delivery and assembly on both the mattress and the Sofa. This, along with the credit, the finance option and Huston’s excellent customer service made our decision to purchase a no-brainer when compared to the competition we had visited prior.
We thank Huston very much and appreciate the...
Read moreWe ended up at Havertys only because Ashley's Furniture failed to deliver our correct order of furniture. Guess everything happens for a reason... we are SO happy Ashleys screwed up! When we first entered Havertys we were stressed. We had family arriving for Christmas in 4 days and zero furniture at our house. We were greeted by Eden, who patiently helped us pick new furniture. She set expectations of what would and could not be delivered on the date we wanted (something Ashleys cannot do). Havertys sent a series of emails that made it convenient to schedule my delivery time and called when they were 30 minutes away for delivery. I was able to track the delivery truck on my phone. There were portions of the furniture Eden set the expectations for that were not going to arrive... however, portions of it did! Nice surprise! The delivery guys were awesome and took great care setting everything up. We realized we failed to order the ottoman to our couch after the delivery guys left. We called Havertys frantic... the manager worked his magic and had to ottoman delivered to us on Christmas Eve! We had a third delivery after Christmas for the remaining of the missing parts of our furniture. Each time the delivery guys were great and personable. Scheduling delivery was easy and convenient. A small screw was missing from our server we ordered, the delivery guy uploaded a case and Havertys customer service called me immediately and resolved the issue. Havertys has great quality furniture. We love it. What has bought our loyalty is how we were treated. Thank you to everyone at the store, we had a great Christmas dinner on our new...
