Capital Seafood Market — Local services in Tallahassee

Update October 2024: maybe even more variety of quality seafood than I remember, with live Maine lobsters, sushi grade fish, and more shellfish with the same efficient/excellent service. If you have read my other reviews, you will know that it is incredibly rare for me not to find some, or many, faults but I just wish that the people who run this place would open a restaurant.

update on 15 June 2024: We've been going here for at least 10 years now and this place should get at least six stars especially for product quality, customer service, and efficiency. Minor issues at times; sure, but overall just amazing for the number of times we've gone there for that long of a period of time.

This place usually has a great selection of very fresh seafood and the staff are extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and polite. (I don't really care about "polite" much, but have been impressed with their politeness when they were totally slammed and they had to deal with dithering customers, which included me before deciding to not get a ticket until I had reviewed what they had.) Their shrimp tonight were very fresh and I was worried that I would not get any when the woman in front of me got 10 lbs. I love that they use thick plastic bags, as another nameless place uses thin/cheap ones that leak and I have never had that issue here. This is one of the best seafood markets in Tallahassee. Why get seafood at over priced Publix, unclean Winn Dixie or not so fresh Walmart when you can come to a seafood market. Much of the seafood that's sold in these chain grocery stores are farm raised. Here in Tallahassee, we are so close to the water that seafood markets are known to have extremely fresh seafood.

This place is always busy and if memory serves me right, they are closed on Mondays. The quality is great, the prices are fair and there is a lot of variety here. This place has one of the best prices in town on crab meat, There is everything here from crabs to shrimp, scallops, crawfish, fish, clams, mussels and they even have an array of seafood seasonings. There is a freezer section where you can also get some frozen seafood items as well as sausages and some other "random" items.

Mike, the owner, and his team will de-bone and fillet the fish for you; which is great. The service is fast yet I don't ever feel rushed.

It's a nice little place to get seafood. They have a variety of seafoods there, fresh and frozen. You have to get a ticket first before you can make an order. You can place your order after they call your ticket number. They have scallops, crabs, lobsters and other fish and many more. I was there last week and got myself some Red Snapper. The fish was good. You can choose the fish from among the ones on display and they will clean and cut it for you. The staff are good. They had mullets, Mississippi red fish, rainbow trouts and some other fish when I was there. They also have a bunch of seasonings and other stuff on sale.
