I've worked at a waffle House years ago and I know the job can be pretty awful at times especially when you have bad tippers all night and are demanding messy customers etc. When I say this is the worst experience I've ever had at any diner I mean it. Walk in the door and wasn't greeted. I had to ask the waitress (maria Mariah I think) for coffee which she got for me and my friends after another customer walked in and she spent 5 minutes talking to them. We ordered off the limited (emergeny menu) which consisted of a meat breakfast bowl no grits (hash base only) and I asked for extra meat on both bowls she said $4.00 I said that's fine and repeated to my friend it's 2.00 extra per bowl for double meat. She said no $4.00 each. I said so $8.00 extra for a extra patty sausage and two strips of bacon? She said yep. (Word to the wise waffle House she is keeping the cash and voiding the extra meat or just adding a a la carte item and choosing the price. So stealing from the business bottom dollar and ripping off customers. I remained polite and tipped her $5.00 anyways my friend was not happy and made it clear which I don't blame him. If you don't like your job go out and find a new one. Don't treat people like your better than them or above them when your working 3rd shift at waffle House, stealing from the business, ripping off customers and running them off. Also my friend is allergic to dairy we said 4 times to the cook and little ms attitude no cheese on the bacon bowl. Guess what they didn't put cheese on my bowl And added cheese to his lucky we checked and switched bowls or he would be in the ER. I won't return to Apalachee Pkwy WH as long as she is employed there. Period. Also was told we couldn't eat in the diner had to leave. The diner was filthy also instead of smoking cigarettes all night when you don't have customers wipe the tables and sweep and mop not hard to clean 4 tables when you aren't even allowing customers to dine-inn. Thank the Lord I didn't have to use the restroom I'm sure it was not...
Read moreMy family and I have been Waffle House enthusiasts for decades. However, one unfortunate event has changed my opinion.
This past March 29th my son and I were in Tallahassee for personal reasons. As usual when we're traveling we look for the nearest Waffle House. We were happy to note there was one within walking distance of our hotel on Apalachee Pkwy.
We stopped in for our standard breakfast and ordered the same thing every time we visit for breakfast- All American Breakfast for me while he prefers waffles and a side of bacon. Nothing fancy, just filling and tasty.
Mariah was our server and was okay but seemed a little annoyed. We also noticed there was a bit of heated banter going on behind the counter. It was distracting the entire staff and caused the customers to be ignored for a decent amount of time. Fortunately the food was great.
Here's my issue - our total check was somewhere around $28 (including 20% tip). Driving away I realized I hadn't been handed my receipt. I thought maybe I had left it at the counter and didn't give it another thought.
The next day I had logged into my B.O.A. account to check my expenditures for the trip and saw a VERY different amount for our breakfast than what I had paid - $78.50!
By this time we were already back home in Fort Myers so I immediately tried calling the restaurant. No answer but the pre-recorded message directed me to the corporate website and to call from there.
Imagine my surprise when I went to the corporate website and saw there is NO CONTACT NUMBER, only 8 different ways to contact them. I selected "Tell us about your visit" and informed them what had transpired,
It's been 11 days since I lodged my complaint and heard nothing back.
If this is how Waffle House choses to handle customer concerns I have likely eaten my last breakfast at any of their...
Read moreQuick, cheap, and friendly. This Waffle House has become my Waffle Home.
Do not go in to Waffle House with high expectations. In fact, don't go in there with expectations at all. Every experience I've had with Waffle House has been unique and that's one of my favorite things about it. If you order the same food every time, you're not always guaranteed the same serving size or quality. If you order in a group, you're not always guaranteed that your food will come out at the same time. If you order a drink, you're not always guaranteed to get it before your meal. What I can guarantee though is that whatever you get will always be great. If something isn't to your liking, ask your server for whatever it is that will make your experience better, even if that means them remaking a meal after you've already eaten half of it. Their staff has always been very understanding and kind, and you should treat them the same! When they're especially busy, which is common a lot on Sundays and in the morning, sometimes they make mistakes. You are eating at a Waffle House. Don't expect perfection. Treat the staff with understanding and respect and they'll do the same. Their servers and cooks are very friendly to have conversations with if they're not too busy, and they're equally respectful about not involving themselves at all. Their tables and windows aren't always the cleanest, but they do their best. The food is cheap but well made. Waffle House serves the best hashbrowns I've ever had, even if they're completely different every time I order them.
If you've never had the pleasure of experiencing one of these fine establishments, do yourself the favor and come in with an open mind and an...
