Chicago Paulie's — Restaurant in Tampa

Let me preface this review with I do not like beef sandwiches in most any form...but I will eat these Italian beef sammies all day long!

Great flavor and I recommend just dumping the broth all over it and eat it that way..forget the dipping, just soak it! Fantastic. We have also had the Chicago dogs, chili dogs and sausage delivered to our office for lunch...all great.

Paulie (yes there is a real Paulie behind the name) is such a nice guy too! Since he gets everything fresh each day...he can sell out...so get it early or get your sad face ready. I stopped by last night for the first time to get dinner to go and he was already closed, but I knocked on the door and we had a great chat he asked my name and shook my hand and was genuinely heartbroken that he was sold out and apologized several times. He is hooking me up today, early and has separated all the items so I can take it home and prepare it, took great detail in telling me how to do it right. I as I walked away, he said "thanks for your support and it was really nice to meet you". Great food, customer service that shows he truly loves the food and it shows! Makes me feel like I made...

Native Chicagoans Paulie and Jade are the real deal. This unassuming, tucked away, modest little shop is exactly what you want it to be and more than you would ever expect. Best Chicago dogs in town - hands down! "Dragged through the garden" the right way with all real Vienna Beef products and perfectly balanced. Paulie will keep you entertained with lively conversation, especially if you're talking about Chicago, but all the while slicing fresh vegetables for your order. Depending when you show up, you may catch Jade squeezing fresh lemons for a number of fresh lemonade flavors. Some items on the menu are seasonal, but that's ok because everything is prepared fresh and tastes great, and their prices are so low, you can afford to try it all. Next time you want a real Chicago Dog or an authentic Italian Beef (hot & wet, loaded with giardiniera) and want them to exceed your expectations, don't drive out of the way to stand in the cattle call at Portillo's, come see Paulie and Jade because it is better...

This is the perfect example of the saying 'Looks can be deceiving.' When someone said that Paulie's was unassuming, they were right. It's a small building beside a gas station. When I found it, I was a bit taken back considering the rave reviews the place got. Still, I went and gave it a try. Got the Best of Both Worlds, which is a Chicago dog and an Italian beef sandwich (got mine spicy, but you can get it mild as well.) Paulie taught me the proper way to eat a Chicago dog, and when I had the first bite, I was in heaven. 3 bites and one minute later, the dog was devoured. BEST. HOT DOG.. EVER! So much flavor, and you can't go wrong with Vienna Beef hot dogs. The Italian Beef had a ton of flavor and a nice kick with the spicy one. The NC Dog (chili and coleslaw) was amazing as well. Wash it down with their fresh lemonades, with the Mango Lemonade being the star of the show. Great prices, and everyone that worked there were very kind. It's the kind of place that deserves all the praise...
