Good Earth Meat & Seafood Inc. — Restaurant in Tampa

We recently moved to the Tampa Bay area and stumbled upon this little gem while doing laundry near by. We started going during the Covid 19 pandemic, so they didn't have their hot food operational, so I can't speak to that part. In addition, we don't eat meat, so I can only speak to the seafood quality. Most of the seafood here is frozen, but don't be turned away by this. While they only had fresh seafood on the weekend, it was more expensive and not necessary to wait for, as everything frozen taste fresh! I don't know how they do it, but everything we've gotten there has tasted like it came right off of the boat, despite being frozen! We just put it in some water and it thaws quickly. You can not tell it was frozen and it even taste like restaurant quality. Actually, they sell to alot of restaurants. Let me just say that I often refuse to buy frozen seafood at other places as I'm a bit particular about seafood and usually insist on fresh, but have no issues here. The owner is very friendly and even went out of his way to put a box of breaded shrimp to the side for us from his last shipment as he knew we had been trying to get some, but they kept running out. We hadn't asked him to do this, however he surprised us on our usual Saturday trip to the store. They also have good prices on some frozen vegetables ($3) and shoe string french fries are an excellent buy as well! If you are looking for quality seafood at a really good affordable price, this...

Listen we have been faithful customers since there very 1st location which was by the railroad tracks by Checkers/Rally's. We meet the father and mother with a host of wonderful employees that was always open to helping us each time we came. But when we found out that they was selling LIVE BLUE CRABS and they were letting u come in to see what sizes they had oh it was on and popping now they have moved to there location now and we have still been coming often sending people there once they ask us we're do we get our seafood.We will always come back ALWAYS..oh and I forgot I got a three pack of philly meat twice and that meat cooked real good..french fries which was a nice big bag.. I also got a nice size bag of party wings that didn't look like they took the chicken off the farm way to soon or pump the chicken up on steroids lol...so they also sell aluminum pans with lids that we grab when we doing our family seafood boils they have seasoning from mild to spicy and they a have shrimp cocktail sauce that got a lil kick to it baby looka here I grab that ever time even turnt my sister on to it (I can't remember the name of it though but it's a must grab ijs)

I have been using this place for 2 years now and continued with them after they moved. I was dissapointed today....i traveled 15 miles to get a product i cannot locare anywhere else..soft shell crab. The box of crabs clearly stated 14 pieces but when counted there were only 12 pieces. I asked the service person if I could get a discount since the box was short. He flatly said "no". I pointed out that the box says 14 crabs he said "it must be mislabled" Since this was his last box and my family would be dissappointed if i did not come home with the soft shells i simply said "ok i still want them". I asked about pricing for a bag of fresh clams and he quoted one price but another service person quoted a price that was 6 bucks more. Now I'm really questioning the character of how the business is managed and wonder if they make up pricing based on the customer type and packaging. I wont go back. Prices are high compared to other warehouse vendors in tampa. I will find soft shells somewhere else.

Update: The owner promptly contacted me and addressed my concern. He was very apologetic for how my situation was handled. Very kind, down to earth person. I will continue to do business with Good Earth....
