On the surface of things when you drive past Martha's Place, the exterior is less than thrilling, but it's the food that we are here for and that's really what counts. Upon entering Martha's Place we were quickly greeted and attended to. The sweet tea was fresh and the ice was cold, so far so good. I ended up ordering a real southern meal or soul food if you like which for me is not an every day thing. What I received was a pleasant surprise. Beef neckbones bursting with flavor And more than enough beef in a savory gravy/Au jus. The collar greens were mixed with bacon and as tender as can be and the savory yellow rice on the side buttery and flavorful. With corn bread to boot. All that I can say is that it was one of the best meals I've had in years and the owner and the cook should be proud of themselves. Don't think that this is just a soul food experience they also carry numerous other things on the menu at a more than reasonable price. My dinner was around $10 and it would have rivaled any top restaurant in the international mall area. Give the mom and pop restaurant owners a two thumbs up for Martha's Place and I urge the locals to give it a shot. It...
Read moreI am taking my little sister to the airport on Sunday morning. We made a quick google search for breakfast in the area and we found Martha's restaurant. We arrive at 7:30am on Sunday, and the restaurant are surprised but also happy to see us. We asked for the breakfast menu and there was none , so the owner just randomly list the items on top of his mind 😆 I ordered ham, scramble eggs, and gravy and biscuits. My sister order omelet with smoke sausage, fried chopped potatoes with onion, and a pancake. We loved the food, but the best 👌 dishes are scramble egg, omelet and pancake. The eggs are creamy, fresh and flufy. 🥞 pancake is perfectly. Overall, the food is more pricier than we expect, since we have no idea how much the items were. It was $30 for a break for 2. We would come back for 🥞 pancake and eggs 🥚 Overall rate. Taste - 4/5. Atmosphere - 3/5. (messy and unorganized) Service - 4/5 (unprofessional but friendly) Price - 1/5 (not...
Read moreI don't know if the staff has changed up or we just came on a bad day but the food was definitely a disappointment 😔 There was NO, and I mean ABSOLUTELY NO seasoning of any kind used in any of our food - I got fried eggs, French toast, smoked sausage and breakfast potatoes - my girlfriend got scrambled eggs, grits, a waffle & bacon. No seasoning in anything, no butter, no nothing. The food definitely needed seasonings because it was all completely BLAND. The French toast & waffle looked like they had sat out a whole then got microwaved to heat them up because both were soggy, moist and not fresh. The syrup was the only thing with some flavor. The place could also definitely use a good cleaning, there were boxes EVERYWHERE, the dusty smell is very noticeable, the counter area is extremely cluttered. Just overall a bad experience...
