I have visited Rollin’ Oats maybe 3 or 4 times...generally with regrets as everything is absurdly over priced. My experience last night was taken to a whole other level when I encountered what I hate to say might have been racism. My fiancé (white) and I (Hispanic) along with our infant daughter we’re getting ready to check out. My fiancé went to the check out while I went to grab some face wash. I then meet him in in line handing him my additional items and then talking about the honey sampler. The cashier had asked me if we were together which I said yes. Now Asking once was fine but then after asking me I told my fiancé I was going to go try the honeys and the cashier then felt it necessary to ask my fiancé again if we were together as though she did not believe me.....seriously? I knew I didn’t want to return because the prices are just ridiculous but after that I was certain I’d never return. News flash: mixed couples do exist...try not making your racism so obvious next time. And for the record...my fiancé was actually the one to comment on this experience after we walked out of the store. Very that people still can’t believe that two people with different ethnicities can be together. Also Whole Foods is much better....even better is Trader Joe’s and Sprouts. Just had to through that one...

Like Whole Foods, but often at a much better price... not to mention... you don't have to deal with the I-275 / Dale Mabry traffic congestion squabble to get in! I like that it feels more local at Rollin Oats. And if you're ever in St. Pete, they have a second location there.
They have a few products which are Rollin Oats made, like their olive oil. Besides that, they have everything under the sun that you could desire for your regular or special dietary needs and preferences. Gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, or whatever your flavor is. :)
Another of my favorite parts is the very diverse yet shockingly affordable drinks selection. I'm always torn between the new products (which are sometimes locally produced) and those I'm already fond of.
They do have great produce here, as well as alcohol, and a frozen foods section too.
Before you go, get some baked goods or a prepared meal. Or better... take a seat...
Read moreI am not sure what’s happening here, but this store is completely different than the other Rollin Oats in Saint Petersburg. It’s like an old market was remodeled to look like a Rolling Oats. Right away you notice a foul stench in the whole store. It’s almost like a sewer smell it’s distracting. The meat department the beer selection are about half the size of the Saint Petersburg. Location and selection was limited. Also the deli much much smaller selection not very many sandwiches versus what is available at the Saint Petersburg location. This location had a very nice large eating area. Produce department also was not on par with the other location. They did not even have cilantro and that is after asking one of their produce workers of which he could not find any either. The green and red peppers were all wrinkly and dry, they did not seem fresh my wife made me put them back. I am not sure why this location is so different than the one in Saint Pete, which is always clean and smells fantastic...
