La Cocina Encantada — Restaurant in Taos

What a great find.! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon about 1:00 pm. The restaurant was not busy. The order is placed at the counter and served by the staff at the table. We had a cheeseburger and fries and a bean and chicharon burrito. The burger and fries were both very tasty and easily one of the best burgers we’ve had. They make their own patties, perfectly seasoned, enhancing the meat but not overpowered. The burrito was perfect, abundantly filled with delicious tasting homemade beans and crispy chicharon in every bite. The burrito is served smother with red or green chile. I chose the green chile which had just the perfect spice and absolutely tasty.! Also spoke with the owners (Jose & Doris, absolute down to earth and lovely couple) as they checked on the customers and was pleasantly surprised to learn this is a family owned business. First of all, finding a new Mexican restaurant was a blessing since the closure of Taoseno. Their food is incredible! It is extremely family oriented, not just ran by the family. But they make you feel so welcome and treat you like family! never rush you.. it is just an amazing place!!! I recommend it to anybody that is looking for not only great food but a good relaxing time and a wonderful atmosphere!! It is my favorite place to go! P.S. on the questionnaire below asked whether I had breakfast, lunch, or dinner there is only one option to fill in. I've had breakfast, lunch, and dinner ( not all in the same day LOL) and I enjoyed all that I've eaten there it is also a dog-friendly restaurant with well-behaved pooches🙂 I will see you...

My family went on a Sunday. My kids both got the tacos, my hubby got the layered enchiladas, and I got a chicken burrito. We arrived famished. My husband and I were both satisfied with the food, but not overly excited. We both felt the green chili was a little under seasoned. My kids were not happy with the food, but the tacos had a different shell, and they are not adventurous. I tasted it and thought it was very good. The atmosphere... well you could tell it used to be a fast food place. And there was an empty salad station by the tables in the dining area. You still order at the window, but at least they bring the food out to you. So it was fine, but not something I would actively seek out...
