Taos Java — Restaurant in Taos

First time ever getting coffee here. The convenience of the drive thru was nice,but you can't see the menu till you get to the window. I feel kinda put on the spot at places like this when its my first time I like to go over the whole menu. I ordered a Caramel Macchiato which is pretty much my go to anywhere else when I don't recognize anything on the menu. Honestly it might've been the worst one I've ever had. I could instantly smell burnt coffee beans when my cup came to me thru the window. And of course I could instantly taste the burnt beans as well. The coffee was extremely hot which is fine it is coffee afterall, but I wasn't able to get the full taste until I was too far gone to complain about it. Not sure if the beans are actually burnt or what the problem was but the coffee itself was extremely bitter...

Visited on a whim on our way out of town when a coffee shop closer to our hotel was closed and so glad we did! It is literally the most homey and comfortable little place. The 3 ladies working were welcoming and helpful when choosing our items, and went out of their way to provide great service even after we sat at our table even though they seem to be a counter service operation. The breakfast burritos and pastries were unexpectedly delicious and the coffee was divine! We had a hot espresso drink, an iced coffee, and a drip coffee and all were amazing. I really liked that they had a loyal customer recognition wall, and we heard them ring a bell a few times while we were there. I use to love going for coffee here, the little lady that was in the drive through was so sweet. Now its a different story, I think all the staff is new, they are rude. I went through the drive through recently, I cracked my window by two inches to order. The lady told me in a hateful voice " YOU NEED A MASS!" and slammed the door shut. I put my mask on and rolled my window down all the way and she made me wait about 4-5 mins before she took my order. She should have asked nicely, I under stand we are in the middle on a pandemic but don't be rude. Not the only time they have been rude recently either but this one topped it off for me.
