I had heard such good things and I really wanted to love it, but I must assume they were having some kind of disaster day because TnT really fell short in some critical areas. I primarily went to buy a loaf of sourdough, I am a bread baker, so I was totally bewildered to see every one of the many loaves in this bakery burnt completely black and charred. I could not see a single one that I would have spent money on. It was absolutely tragic to see so many loaves, that should have been beautiful, totally destroyed.
We decided to have a light lunch and a beverage anyway. My friend had avocado toast, which looked like it would have been nice except it was served on a thick slice of the burnt bread toasted, she ate the middle and said it was tasty enough. I ordered the gluten free option with was dressed heirloom tomatoes and ordered a side slice of bread. The bread was, I could now see with this untoasted side, very underproved with a dense claggy texture. Sorry TnT, but your baker needs to go back to basic bread class, you can’t be underproving and then burning large quantities of bread like this! What a very sad thing.
The gluten free option, without the side of bread, was just a small bowl of chopped tomatoes with a light dressing, tasty, but expensive and lacking imagination. Why no mozzarella or avocado or greens? Gluten free, does not mean tomatoes only. Also, there was still a produce barcode label stuck onto one of the tomato chunks, so not sure they had been washed, they certainly hadn’t had much love put into them.
The place was not busy, maybe 3 other small tables, but the service was also very slow it took 25 minutes for our food to arrive, which was very long for what we ordered, and then we had to ask the whereabouts of and then go and get ourselves the silverware. There were also lots of unbussed tables, making the place looked unkempt.
We ordered a latte and a golden milk to drink, they arrived promptly and were both excellent.
The ambience and atmosphere are pleasant, except for the toilet which for some inexplicable reason is incredibly dark and lit only by fast-moving multicolored disco lights. There was no toilet paper.
All in all, a really sad disappointment. I still want to love it, because it does have a cool vibe, but absolutely first and foremost, they need to learn how to make bread and not burn it!
20th August update: I am never unhappy to give a place a second or even third and forth chance if people really disagree with me and love a place. So gave T and T another try. Once again, I had a delicious latte, and on the recommendation of others tried one of their bagels with cream cheese. It was very good. The bagel was not burned and had a great chewy texture and a good, strong sourdough flavor. I can see why people enjoy them. The service was much better on this visit and the tables were being bussed efficiently and it presented much better so I am amending my rating up a little on all categories.
Nevertheless, when I looked to see for some baked goods to take away, they had limited stock, and once again, what was available was once more very sadly, burnt. Picture this time to demonstrate. TnT took my last review very badly as you can see, but it was given objectively and I think was fair. I give praise for things that are good - and take note of things that need work. I know it is hard to swallow criticism, but often an honest but fair voice is your best friend in business. I want you to succeed, there is nothing more valuable in a community than a great cafe/bakery. Figure out your great artisan oven, and stop burning your otherwise lovely product. It doesn’t matter if you think it is just characterful, if otherwise potentially enthusiastic and wannabe loyal customers think it just looks burnt. Come on!...
Read moreFirst off my sincere apologies for this delayed review. Do not leave Taos before trying this place or if you are a local give it a try! This cafe has amazing coffee and a great healthy food menu. There is so much thought and intent behind every item. I feel great knowing they care so much about the quality of what they serve and how knowledgeable their amazing staff is about what they're serving. However this review is also a MASSIVE shout out to Connor and the owner Matt. My husband and I were on our way home from visiting Taos and before we started our journey we had to stop here. We were 20 minutes from home after I FINALLY realized I forgot my purse at Tomorrow and Tomorrow. By this point we were in a different state and there was no way we could have turned back (I KNOW IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO REALIZE) Franticly I called and Conner answered and let me know that they had the purse and remembered me from earlier and he said we have it here waiting for you. I let him know my situation and said he would ship it to me. I couldn't tell you how relived I was. I also got to speak with Matt the owner and these guys are A1 folks. Genuine and helpful. My purse was safely shipped back to me. Mind you this was during the holidays so I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you made the time and took the time out of your busy schedule to return my purse. "I believe in the kindness of strangers." -Lana Del Rey I appreciate you more than you know Connor! Great people all around here at this Cafe. The next time we visit I will personally thank you. -The girl who left her purse (Am I the only one...
Read moreFirst of all, the cafe had the lingering smell of delicious bacon as you walk in! The sandwiches in the window case looked so good, though we were only there for a quick coffee. My husband and I shared a flat white; it was the best flat white we have every tried, the caramelization of the cream was so good though it did not hinder the flavor of the espresso. Unfortunately, I think I was shorted a dollar when paying. Later when I got back to my hotel, I took out the cash from my wallet and it didn't add up to what the price of the coffee way. When I said I was paying cash, the guy behind the counter seemed hesitant. It took some time for him to give me back my change. I didn't think to count it out to myself, just left a tip and got my drink. 100% think it was an honest mistake, but maybe keep a calculator behind the register so this doesn't...
