We are staying here for 2 nights and booked the Taos Pueblo room at $300/night because we loved the fireplace. We were told upon check-in that we can't use it because "it's not ready yet" whatever that means. On the welcome letter, it clearly states that fireplaces are available in October, and we are here on October 11. The person who checked us in was extremely pleasant and helpful with what was within his control, so I definitely want to note that...he gave us a five-star service. The property is beautiful and so is the decor in our room. The bed turned out to be very uncomfortable, and we could hear our upstairs neighbors walking, talking, sneezing, etc. There were a bunch of tiny little bugs in the room. I think they were tiny box elder tree bugs, i'm not an entomologist, so I'm not really sure what they were. But they were everywhere, including our bed. My husband and I caught 10 of them. And they just kept appearing. Bugs are ok and understood when you're camping, but not when you're paying that price for a room. And again, we paid $600+ for this room, for 2 nights, just to be able to have a cozy fireplace in a romantic setting for a couple of nights, and we don't get to have that, so overall we dislike the room. The breakfast was very good, as well as the service during breakfast. We ended up checking out early and were told they would refund the one night we weren't going to use. But that was expected as we checked out early afternoon because of a bug infestation. ****in response to owner's response, we did let the front desk know about the bugs, and he asked if we wanted him to go clean them up for us. We explained that we had already removed so many and they just kept appearing. That is an infestation. The other hotel we stayed at down the road did not have any bug problems inside their rooms, and it's an inn, so the door is outside. I wrote the review as I was sitting on the bed, not trying to sleep yet. There is a dip in the middle that made it uncomfortable, not the firmness. And we did address the fireplace issue. The low this evening was 24 degrees. The entire week we were in NM, before we got to Taos, the lows were in the 40s even as south as Santa Fe.

Further away from the square than expected. We were told the fireplace was "not ready yet" despite this being a primary contributing factor for booking, the welcome packet stating the fireplace use starts in October and the low being 26 degrees at night. Breakfast was great and the staff were nice. Infestation of boxelder bugs. Found some dead and some alive between the sheets and comforter on the first night. Barely slept at all. Found them all over walls and ceiling, along with two spiders in the bathroom the next day. Checked out asap to stay down the road in a renovated motel. Refunded 2nd night only. We were fortunate there was vacancy nearby. Paint chipping off ceiling. Thick dirty grout in the shower. Not much water pressure in shower. Same for toilet, along with backwards flushing handle. Opposite issue with the sink. Too much water pressure blasting water all over the place immediately when turned on. Odd overly large stairs to enter, not normally worth mentioning but might as well. Sure makes an adult feel like a toddler trying to figure out their stride. Seems to have a great and proud history with nice staff but it's not getting the attention it deserves. The Inn has a lot of potential with only a little effort to achieve great things.

For a step back in both time and style, the Inn checks all the boxes. There are modern elements slipcased into a comfy room. Important note: There is no elevator, and the style/access to the room we stayed in required stair climbing. The lobby if you want to call it that is more like a rustic living room. Our room was a Western motif, with knotty pine walls. The only complaint which is true for most lodging is that the ambient lighting is dull and no ability to have a really lit room. Very convienent to the Plaza. The breakfast is personalized by your choices and very flavorful

We had a very unpleasant experience staying at this property. We paid for 3 nights and only stayed for one night. When we spoke with the owner Gerry, and explained our reason for leaving he called my husband a con man and then went on to say that I had an attitude because I was looking around. I didn't have an opinion until we entered our Upgraded room. Bugs flying around, on bed, floor, bathtub, the tub was stained, hair trailing off tub plug. This room was not what we expected or paid for! Staying for 3 days during a Christmas break, we wanted to feel like we could hang out in our room and relax. Not here! On the website they do show rooms that look updated and clean, our room was a western themed room that looked like it was dirty and neglected. We have stayed in numerous properties....... all different price points.....Never have we stayed in a place that we wanted to leave. Gerry wanted to bribe my husband saying that if we didn't post anything negative he would return our money! When my husband said, you should do the right thing.... he calls my husband a "con-man"! We walked away from more than $500.00 and we weren't about to be told Not to make a negative review. This is how you...
