Over all this is the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. We travel a lot and eat at a lot of different restaurants, but the experience we had here was the worst of them all. We got to the restaurant and waited 20 minutes just to get our name on the list with about 15 other people waiting as well because the hostess was no where to be found. Finally we decided after getting our name on the list to sit at the bar while waiting and have a drink. We sat down and there was someone else’s crumbs from their previous meal on the bar. All we asked was for the bartender to clean the bar off and received attitude for cleaning up the chicken crumbs. All of us had a beer except for one that had a vodka and coke which was good. But the beer was not cold and we went awhile without being asked if we would like another one after our drinks had been empty for longer than they should. While sitting at the bar I began to look at how clean the bar was. The fridges behind the bar were covered in filth all over the doors and all along where the taps were. I have never seen a restaurant or bar so filthy and disgusting. We were also told that it would be at least 45 minutes just for food. Finally we decided to just pay for our drinks and leave and not even order food since we had still not been seated after waiting at the bar for over an hour, after people that had come in after us were being seated. Once we were leaving we noticed that on the hostess list she had marked our names out and skipped over us because it was more work for her to seat us, after we had told her we would just be at the bar having a drink waiting on our table. Will never recommend this restaurant...

Walked in, and after catching my breath, was escorted to one of the dining areas where I asked if I could sit near a window. The portly guy didn't offer up the bar or patio but promptly said there weren't any available. I was there for about an hour and 20 minutes, roughly, during dinner, on a Wednesday, and the open tables did not fill up; neither did the patio. Now if it wasn't for some older gents sitting next to me who obviously had some influence on my server and the portly guy, I probably would have been ignored or had some really bad service. Menu didn't catch my interest and food was not impressive. At least my server was nice enough to tell me the fried pickles and fried green beans were not homemade (translation: came from a box or frozen). So I settled on their Reuben. They tried to present it nicely but by the time it reached me, it was a leaning Ruben sandwich, but I really enjoyed their fries.

Whoever made my $11 Cucumber Collins just decided to mutilate a half lemon inside my glass so it was extremely sour; didn't taste the gin, cucumbers or, he'll, not even the lemonade!

But because of those two guys, this is why The Gorge is only getting two stars. This tourist came to town, went to a hot spot, but...

Was here last week for vacation (pretty sure it was 3 Aug). Went one afternoon based on the reviews. Great location. Food was okay. Chips and three types of salsa were pretty decent. My fish and chips were okay. The batter on the fish was a little over-cooked and not what was expected (fish and chips batter tends to be light and fluffy); however, it did not taste bad.

Service was severely lacking. Took forever to get someone to take our order. Took longer to get drinks (in fact, chips and salsa appeared before my beer and my wife's Sprite). My wife had to get up and get her own refill on Sprite (or whatever clear soda they serve). My food and drink was finished before I was ever asked if I wanted another beer. I do not know my waiter's name, so unfortunately, I cannot give a more targeted review.

Most importantly, the staff seemed less than happy. No one worked as a team. No one helped each other. Glasses were stacking on the bar, and no one was pitching in to help the bartender wash them. The bartender had little sense of urgency.

Stop in if you are shopping the downtown square, want to sit on the balcony, and have some...

We visited the Gorge on a Thursday, Aug 19. We had dinner there once before. For a Thursday afternoon at 4:00, it was packed, with seats only available outside on the balcony. The waitress seemed very accommodating, and seated us, with a very nice view of the Taos Plaza and La Fonda de Taos. Then. . . the rain came before our food was served, and only table available was at the bar. No problem. But our waiter seemed to forget we were his customers, and we had to remind him a couple of times. The drinks, margaritas of course, were very good and tart. But the deep fried corn tortillas surrounding the chicken enchiladas were divine, crispy. And the beans were PINTOS, the best. I'm sure tejanos like black beans, but they also like okra. Pintos are the best. I recommend this restaurant

Fully stocked bar with an excellent selection of draft and can/bottle beer, wide range of liquors, and a few wines. We sat at the bar - which we prefer when possible - where we had the chance to talk to the staff. Everyone was super friendly, helpful, and fun to talk to. They make shirts with different quotes on them, and most of the staff wore different versions - we had a great time asking about the quotes, hearing where they came from and why the team member chose that one over another. The food options were decent. We weren't wow'ed by the food, but it was certainly reasonable - especially from the view of a bar-and-grill. Overall, we had a great time. We look forward to visiting again!

Best food we had in Taos. We had a free appetizer coupon that a local ski shop had given us so we decided to give it a try. The wait was about 20 minutes at dinner time on Tuesday. They have a lovely patio with a nice view but we ate inside. They mentioned being short-handed in the kitchen but the wait for food really wasn't that long. Our waitress took care of everything fine and she was friendly at first but was quick to dump the check and say bye. I would definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner while you're in Taos.
