Tom & Jimmy's — Restaurant in Taunton

TL;DR: this review became much longer than expected. Fantastic quality of ice cream, plentiful amount of flavors to choose from, and friendly service, but wildly inconsistent portion amounts for ice cream sundaes in particular, which are the most expensive item on the menu.

The quality of ice cream is definitely above average, the service is always super friendly, and I’m excited they are open through the winter this year. Our family of four loves to get the different ice cream sundaes they offer, but I wish the portion sizes were not so wildly inconsistent.

$10+ for one sundae is not inexpensive, and the the amount of ice cream & toppings you get in those large cups is so variable - I guess depending on who makes it.

They are also on both DoorDash and Uber Eats and always package delivery orders carefully, which makes for a good alternative if unable to drive that night.

Disclaimer: the attached pictures show the low end of the volume inconsistency. I understand that ice cream can settle, especially during delivery, but sometimes even walking away from the in-person counter you feel cheated when $60 I would expect a higher level of...

Important Note: During the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic this spot was a gem to find open. They quickly implemented safety measures for social distancing. This is where I go when quarantine is getting to me. I'm high risk so I've been home longer than most people but I feel absolutely safe at Tom & Jimmy's.

They are reasonably priced and generous with portions. I was ecstatic to find Green Creamery non-dairy ice cream with real ingredients. I got the strawberry (coconut based) ice cream with real frozen strawberries not just some artificial strawberry flavor. It was scrumptious. I really forgot to take a photo. But here's an empty cup for proof!

Last time I had the brownie sundae and struggled to finish it. My favorite brownie sundae is elsewhere but this is a very close second. Good size.

I texted with the owner about ordering an ice cream cake for my son, he wrongly described it. I picked blue for the color after he asked if I wanted pink or blue. Drove 30 minutes there to find out they are all pink and only the inscription was an option of pink or blue. This was not communicated to us clearly. However when we got there the young girl was extremely rude to us, annoyed we were there even though the place was dead, wanted us to pay for it before seeing it, rolled her eyes at me when I politely asked to see it with my son who was excited. I hope they had camera so the owners could see how rude she was. Overall the ice cream is really just OK at best but the customer service was awful.
