Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Tavares

A first for me. I read here this also happened to another person. We watch our neighbors house seasonally and he gave us a few gift cards as a thank you. One was a Jimmy John's gift card for $25.00. We went in for 2 subs. Our first time there. Rather expensive, but hey we had our new gift card! Ordered 2 subs which came to over 33.00! Huh? For 2 subs? One Cuban and one was some type of beef or steak sub. So would cost us about 8.00 difference! Wow, still expensive but figured these things would be packed at least for those prices! Now for the kicker, as we read on another review afterwards, the new gift card, had no money on it! Huh? So instead of 8.00 for these subs, it cost us 33.00 and change! We looked at each other and shook our heads. Instead of walking out, we paid full price for our subs and we noticed, they never gave us the gift card back! My bad for not noticing until we got home. Now for the $33.00 subs! My Cuban was more a vegetarian sub when they got done with it! Where's the rest of the meat? My wife actually starting laughing because of our ridiculous experience and what it ended up costing us for lunch! These subs are mostly bread and veggies. I mentioned it to my neighbor when he checked in with us to see how all was going. He said, the card was new and funds should had been no problem. We tried to laugh it off with him. But honestly, never again we we eat at Jimmy John's. We looked at some other reviews and pictures, and there were many that looked like our very Anemic Subs! The bread was good but the rest of sub was skimpy and I'm still not sold on the empty gift card. It's happened there before and we will stick to Publix amazingly packed subs for about 10.00 each! You don't seem to get as much meat as other sub shops but there's something about the #5 Vito sandwich that just comes together perfectly for me. I get it with no onions and extra tomatoes and I enjoy it to the very last bite. They're always fast and this is a great alternative to a burger place.

UPDATE: Yesterday I stopped here and was taken aback by the fact that I could not order a 16" sub with the exception that I wanted EZ mayo on only half. You see it's less expensive to order one 16" sub instead of two 8" subs. I figure that they would allow you to do that provided that it's all the same sub. The kid behind the counter informed me that it all had to be prepared EXACTLY the same way or it could not be considered one 16" sub. He offered to prepare the whole thing without mayo and then give me a couple mayo packets. I was dumbfounded for a minute. Mayo packets MUST be more expensive than a tablespoon of mayo from the jar. We have stopped at this location many times. The staff have always been Pleasant and greet you sincerely and have asked us how we are when we're waiting for a sandwich. Our sandwiches were tasty and fresh and the place was clean. Will definitely go back. Also like that they now offer the wheat sub Roll Along with the wheat sliced bread. 9-2024 update, had to knock the sandwich down a notch. Meat did not go to the end of the bread (to be expected I guess unless you order extra meat), but more importantly the lettuce on both of our sandwiches was wilty and was starting to turn on the edges.
