I ate at several Mexican restaurants during my recent trip to Texas and this was by far my favorite one. Definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants I've tried anywhere. The food was super fresh, it seemed they used very fresh, high-quality ingredients. Everything was cooked just right. Chips were perfect, crispy, not at all greasy, salsa was great. My wife got a shrimp bowl and it was fantastic. I got a bunch of tacos and beans and rice, they were really exquisite. It was cheap too, prices were low and serving sizes were generous. Service was very good. The atmosphere was also nice, bright and spacious, also clean, bathrooms were clean. My only complaint is that I am not thrilled by the location. It's in an ugly, car-oriented area on the outskirts of town, and the view out the window isn't great (looking out on this ugly, car-oriented area), and pulling into and out of the parking lot is difficult, especially by Texan standards. Most of Texas has ample space but the driveway in and out of this place does not, lots of waiting for traffic to go by and it is not a fun experience. So 1/5 location, but 5/5 everything else. So seriously, the town of Taylor really needs to do something to clean up this stroad north of town. Look up what a stroad is, this business is definitely on a stroad, and I hate stroads. The whole area needs to be gutted and redesigned. It's a problem bigger than this restaurant, but I at least want them to be aware of it. For example, this restaurant is a short distance from the walking path between Bull Branch and Murphy parks, but there is no path to walk directly from this path, to the restaurant, instead you have to walk out to the main road and no one wants to walk along that road, it's awful, tons of loud fast-moving traffic and constantly crossing the sidewalk. It needs to be redesigned to make this and the numerous other businesses along this strip accessible to the walkable neighborhoods west of here and it could be done in a way that made this restaurant more pleasant to access for cars and drivers too. As for the restaurant itself though, 5/5, definitely one of the best Mexican restuarants I have eaten at, and the best on this recent...
Read moreSo.... the beer was cold!! And on this hot day that was super refreshing. We got there just before the lunch rush, we were going to grab a quick bite to eat .. no menus were offered to us. The Bartender must have overheard us asking each other what kind of food we wanted and we were just guessing and what was on the menu cuz we weren't offered one. He did finally turn around and hand us one, but took a minute. We both ordered tacos just of different kinds.... they were okay nothing to brag about. What bothers me the most was about two tables behind us next to the Jukebox somebody accidentally dropped their drink or their plate or something and it was pretty loud crash like the whole place turned and looked everybody except for the employees the ones that did actually look ran two ran into the kitchen to avoid having to clean it up the bartender acted like he was going to go over there but instead he stopped and talked to the girl that was just leaning on the counter and she wasn't about to go over there not too far away from where it all happened and he didn't even bother to get up I mean I literally saw about eight employees do absolutely nothing including an owner. The customers look like they were about to clean it up themselves when some super tall guy that work there came by and started helping clean but damn that was just disturbing and the way everybody ran was hilarious but not in a good way don't think I'll be...
Read moreAbsolutely discussed with our first experience! Took my son on his 14th birthday and some of my daughters soft ball team with us. Took 20 minutes to just get drinks ordered they never refilled chips or salsa. Took probably another 25 -30 minutes to order food. When we arrived I had told the waiter it was my son's birthday, he ordered the easiest thing on the menu which was nachos, but they didn't bring his food till almost everyone was done eating. Except for 2 other couples we were the only people there. The same guy was waiting on everybody, while the rest of the staff chit chatted and we're on their phones having a good ol time. I had to get out if my seat go confront the staff, ask for the manager and confront him before my son got his food. Our silverware and napkins we're dirty. Our food was caked in cheese, and I had enough grease coming out of my quesadilla I could have swam in it. We had to wait another 20ish minutes to get the check so we could get the hell up out of there. I will not be visiting the other branches in Caldwell and Roundrock either. I will never dine with this chain again. I've had better service and better food at Taco bell. I know this seems like a really review but frankly it doesn't feel near as long as the amount of time I had to wait on the waiters. Most of the time my review are all about what a great experience I or my family and I had. But this was horrible from...
