Tl;dr - Great atmosphere, okay food if you know what to order and there are tons of options, service was mid.
Went with my sister and told the server we had never been there before. She explained some of the basics to us but she wasn't overly helpful in providing all the information that could have made the best experience. It was enough information to get some food at least.
Since we had never been there, we decided to try hot pot and BBQ which was $5 extra per person. Sister tried the Healthy Herb broth which was very flavorful. I had the Japanese Miso which didn't have a strong taste. It was like watered-down miso and I found it to be slightly disappointing. I much preferred my sister's herb broth. There was a gluten free broth option for those with dietary restrictions (we didn't try it so I can't comment on the flavor).
Both the soup and the BBQ options had plenty of meat and vegetarian selections (including tofu) to choose from. There was an iPad on the table that we used to send in the orders of the things we would like to try. There was a sashimi plate (limit 1 per person) and a few sushi options as well. I appreciated the wide selection of fresh veggies. We ordered the Finger Ribs which never came with our first round. I asked the server about it and she told me to order it on the iPad again. It never came with the second round either and I gave up at that point.
The drink selections included Pepsi products ($3) and various boba teas ($6). I ordered the taro tea and enjoyed it. My sister's Root Beer was forgotten and we had to ask for it 3 times so it came when we were about 40 minutes into the meal.
We got a cup of ice cream included and I was surprised when it came out in a disposable plastic cup. You can choose from vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. We both chose strawberry and it was a nice note to end the meal. It was a unique flavor, not too sweet, and I was entertained that the ingredients list had 4 different kinds of milk - that probably explains the buttery texture. The portion size was perfect and I really enjoyed it, though my sister thought it was just all right.
My favorite bites were the gyoza in the herb broth, the BBQ short rib, and the quail egg. My sister's favorite bites were the BBQ short rib, the quail egg, the shrimp tempura sushi, and the spicy crab sushi.
Toward the end of the meal we noticed there seemed to be a buffet bar along one wall. The server hadn't mentioned it at the start of the meal. We were too full to try any of it by the time we asked about it so I only took pictures of it. I imagine I would have appreciated the meal more if I'd known about the 32 different sauces and the rest of the self-service buffet.
They don't take reservations unless you have a party of 10 or more. See the picture of the sign for info about gratuity additions and last service call times. The front of the house staff were friendly and efficient. We waited less than 10 minutes for a table even though the place was crowded and many people were waiting ahead of us.
Accessibility: there were several handicap parking stalls around the restaurant and the pathways inside the restaurant were nice and wide for a wheelchair to navigate around, even though the place was crowded. The accessible tables seemed a little limited but that's just my perception so I'm not sure if that would cause a longer wait for a table.
Overall we had a lot of fun trying lots of new things and figuring out what we liked and didn't like, and then laughing at each other's reactions. I loved the atmosphere, and the food was just okay (maybe if we ordered more things we would have found more things to love). We paid $85.50 for the meal not including tip. I wouldn't choose to go there again but I would go with someone else if they really...

Read moreA Disappointing Experience at KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot Korean BBQ and Hot Pot are meant to be indulgent, interactive dining experiences. Unfortunately, my visit to KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot fell flat on almost every front.
From the moment we sat down, the cracks in the service and quality became glaringly evident.
Cleanliness and Basic Utensils One of the most alarming aspects of the visit was the lack of clean utensils. I was handed a dirty spoon and, upon requesting a replacement, was told that no clean spoons were available and that they would need to hand-wash one. This issue extended to the soup service: when I asked for a ladle, I was again informed that no clean ladles were available due to the previous night’s rush. Considering it was nearly 1:30 PM, there was more than enough time to prepare for lunch service. Such neglect in providing basic, clean dining tools is unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one with the ambitious concept of Korean BBQ and hot pot.
Timing and Food Quality The timing of the food further exacerbated the experience. Dishes arrived at an excruciatingly slow pace, leaving us with soggy noodles before any of the meat had even made it to the table. The concept of pairing freshly cooked proteins with complementary sides and broths was completely undermined by the kitchen’s poor pacing.
Worse still, the quality of the food left much to be desired. The sashimi I ordered tasted so unpleasantly fishy that I resorted to searing it on the grill just to make it palatable. As for the kimchi, a staple of Korean cuisine and often a restaurant’s pride, it was utterly inedible. One bite was enough for me to spit it out—it was sour in all the wrong ways, lacking the balance and flavor that defines good kimchi. A real Korean restaurant should celebrate its pickled offerings; here, it was nothing short of a disappointment.
Service and Communication As first-time visitors, we were unfamiliar with KPOT’s salad and sauce bar. Unfortunately, the staff made no effort to inform us of its availability or guide us through the experience. This lack of communication added unnecessary confusion to an already subpar meal.
I voiced my concerns to the staff, explaining the numerous issues and proposing to pay half of the meal’s cost instead of the full price. Initially, they agreed, but they later reversed their decision and only discounted 15% off the total. This left a sour taste in my mouth, not only due to the food but also because of the inconsistency and lack of accountability in their customer service.
Final Verdict KPOT Korean BBQ and Hot Pot promises a lively dining experience but delivers little more than frustration. Between the dirty utensils, slow service, low-quality food, and poor communication, it became clear that this restaurant does not prioritize its customers.
If you’re considering a visit, I strongly suggest saving your money and taking your business elsewhere. There are far better options for Korean BBQ and hot pot, where quality, service, and cleanliness are treated with the care and respect...
