Disappointing Experience at Lolo’s.
I’ve wanted to try Lolo’s for a long time, but unfortunately, my visit on January 14, 2025, at 8 PM was deeply disappointing. In my 63 years, this is by far one of the worst restaurant experience I’ve had. I rarely leave negative reviews because I understand how damaging they can be to a business, but I feel it’s my duty to share this.
I ordered the Loco Moco, and everything about the dish fell short. The hamburger patty was tough, overcooked, and burnt on the edges. I requested over-medium eggs, but they arrived over-hard and crispy. The velvety gravy I was expecting was clumpy, and the macaroni salad was bland and unseasoned. While the rice was passable, the rest of the dish was so unappetizing that I couldn’t eat it—a rarity for me, as I hate wasting food.
What’s most concerning is that someone on the grill thought this was acceptable to serve. Where are the standards, pride, and ethics? If this is reflective of the owners’ expectations, Lolo’s is in serious trouble.
To anyone reading this, I strongly recommend saving your money and supporting establishments that uphold higher standards of...
Read moreAs a Hawaiian living in Utah I was excited to try the food when seeing the location.
I paid $22 for a 3 meat plate (extra for kalbi ribs) and a fountain drink. Pretty expensive but it'd be worth it... I thought.
The location is very clean but bare in decoration.
Even though I paid extra for Kalbi, I did not get Kalbi. I got Kalua Pork instead. Since I enjoy Kalua Pork (normally) and I did not want to wait for them to cook the Kalbi I didn't say anything about the mixup. Bad choice. The Kalua Pork was very bland. Not fat or salt or seasoning or any kind. It tasted like someone put a very lean piece of cheap pork in a croc pot and over cooked it.
The Mac salad also has no seasoning and the portions were small, as well as the portion of rice.
Honestly their chicken Katsu is good. Not great but good. They do not give you enough sauce for the chicken though. Their sauce cups are about 1/3 the size of a normal Hawaiian plate lunch sauce cup.
Overall if I came back it'd be only to get the chicken Katsu if I were nearby and feeling Hawaiian BBQ.
If there were another Hawaiian BBQ place nearby, I'd definitely...
Read moreIn total we have tried this place twice. I am no Hawaiian food expert so I cannot speak of how authentic this place is. Overall, we like the food and their flavors so far. Even my dad likes it.
We like the fire chicken, chicken katsu and the Hawaiian bbq chicken. Their sauce is leaning towards the ‘runnier’ side. The brown rice is a bit too dry in my opinion, but I love their macaroni salad. Ask me if the veggie salad is worth it and I will say no.
I notice the spam musubi is a bit pricey, but what is not these days. Their lunch portion is good for us.
The restaurant style is fast casual, everything is self service and you receive food in styrofoam containers, regardless if you order to stay or to go. This is what I don’t like given the price we pay, so I would rather only order takeout here. Their decorations are good, and what we like the most is the employees’ attitude and customer service. Both times, the employees who took our order were very friendly and welcoming!
We will go here again if we ever crave Hawaiian...
