This was our first time using the PetSmart Hotel and we were very excited about it because we’ve loved shopping at PetSmart and utilizing the salon services they have and we’ve been seeing our vet at Banfield. It was nice knowing our pup would be looked after and could get care with our veterinary provider if he needed it. Unfortunately he did need it due to stress and getting an upset tummy. We appreciated being notified and kept in the loop. Before all this we tried several times on two different days he was there to call the PetSmart Hotel and even trying the emergency option and could never get through to anyone. It was very frustrating. We appreciated the photos emailed to us which was nice. We sent food that we pre-portioned out along with two cans of soft food as a topper. We even sent a bit extra dry food just in case. We provided the instructions for the amount he eats and how often. We were told it would be taken care of. When we picked him up we were given back one can of the soft food and one and a half of the gallon sized Ziplock bags of dry food. Our dog appeared quite skinny and the fat cheeks he had before were hanging off his face. With him appearing to have only been fed a small portion of the pre-portioned meals we provided. It was extremely disappointing and frustrating that he would be malnourished and hardly fed what we provided and instructed. Upon arrival he was 53 pounds and when he was seen at the vet he was not weighed and provided medication that is weight based and it appears on the prescription bottles that his original was used instead of getting a new weight. When we called the Banfield he was seen by they said they did not take a new weight and we have not been able to see how much weight he has lost or why they prescribed medication based on an inaccurate weight. Above all we were grateful had the option to be able to stay at the PetSmart Hotel but we were definitely disappointed and dissatisfied with his care while staying there in terms of his...
Read moreI took my cat in for a haircut and bath. They failed to bathe my cat and let my husband and I know. They had my cat for 45 minutes and called to let me know she was finished and she had done great, no mention that they were unable to do the full groom on her.
Once my cat was home and I noticed she hadn't been bathed I called to ask why and what happened and the first person I talked to over the phone, Jen, stated that she wasn't sure but that my cat had freaked out so they didn't bathe her and I should have been told that when I dropped her off if my cat were to do poorly they wouldn't finish the groom and I'd still be charged the full amount. This was never explained to me. She told me to call the manager in the morning.
I call the next morning and the manager didn't know what was going on and would call me back once my cats groomer arrived. She promptly called once she spoke to the groomer and told me that after my cat was shaved (which she did a great job doing and my cat looks really adorable) they walked my cat back to the tub and when the dogs started barking my cat freaked out.
Well, this disappoints me in that they didn't let my cat try and calm down and they also just held onto my cat, rather than putting her in a carrier while walking through the kennels. This is dangerous for both groomer and cat. If the cat were to bite the groomer because of their poor safety protocols then my cat would immediately be put on a ten day quarantine per animal control no matter her status of rabies. Plus the infection the groomer can get can put them out of work for quite sometime.
I liked the groomer but the way we were treated, talked to by staff, lack of communication and the companies safety protocols warrants a one star review. They did offer a refund or 10.00 off her next groom . I'm opting for the refund which I will soon see if they uphold that commitment. I will not be going back for grooming services nor recommending.
PetSmart grooming still remains quantity...
Read moreI have taken my dog here countless time and have never had an issue what so ever. This past week I dropped my dog off and noticed that the entire staff looked brand new to me. Well, I will NEVER leave my dog at this PetsMart again. I recv'd 2 phone calls during the week that my dog had been taken to the vet. First she was throwing up a lot on Monday, this wasn't overly alarming and I thought nothing of it. Then on Thursday I got a phone call that she had been involved in an 'altercation!' My 9 year old beagle was attacked by a 18 month old german shepherd. They assured me it was the other dog who started it, but in the end MY DOG needed to be put under sedation and given 5 stitches. My dog was taken to Banfield and about 2 hours after I got the phone call that my dog was hurt the vet called to tell me she was fine and ready for pick up. Banfield HAD no clue I was out of the country and that PetsHotel would be picking my dog back up.
Finally the day came I got to rescue my dog from this nightmare and I noticed yet another new employee. She was probably 5' tall and maybe 90 pounds, when I saw her I thought that one of the employees younger sisters must be helping out. She looked 12. After paying full price for my dogs stay, and not a single employee saying sorry for what happened I asked if someone was in the room with the dogs at the time. Sure enough the 12 year old looking girl said she was the one in there!?!? What the hell is a small petite child going to do if a GERMAN SHEPHERD gets aggressive?
On my way out I bumped into the stores assistant manager and explained my frustrations and again not a thing was done to rectify the situation or attempt to keep me as a customer.
PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PET...
