We got platanos Fritos con queso. Delicious! Maracuyá juice was so good. I forgot to take pictures of everything we got before digging in, but I felt like everyone got a decent amount of food. Father in law got lomo saltado, which I would say the plate was about the same amount of other restaurante I've been too (decent portion). I got bistec a lo pobrecito, and it was soooo good! That was a huuuuge plate, i haven't gotten it anywhere else so not sure how to compare portion to other places but i barely made a dent in it lol. Will definitely be taking to Airbnb for leftovers. Husband got salchipapas and most places use hot dogs with the fries. My husband said these ones were legit sausages and he loved it. Had some ham pieces too. I don't come to salt lake city often at all, but definitely love this place and go out of my way to stop here while visiting nearby in the future. The people were super nice and very friendly. They spoke to us in Spanish which is awesome for those who are looking for a place to practice it or return missionaries. I also love the decorations, very pretty!...

I was really excited to come here
I ordered:
Leche de Tigre with fried seafood on the side Arepa with sirloin steak Yuca frita
Okay, so here’s my issue with this place, they will NOT substitute ANYTHING at all. I asked the gentleman taking my order instead of the cheese that comes with yuca if I could have salsa criolla and he said nope we can’t substitute anything, we have to charge you.
Are you serious I asked for regular onions vs your sauce.
Then prior to when I made the phone order I asked for 2 pieces of avocado and they charged me $5 bucks
I really really love supporting local places, however when they nickel and dime you for everything just say that. The prices are already high, I bought a steak arepa and it was 12.99 on the menu u however I was charged 19.99 + the 2.99 for the 2 slices of avocado.
This was my first time, and unfortunately my last time. Never again, there are a lot of other restaurants that will substitute I’ll even pay for it, I’m not asking free stuff.
Either way I paid almost $70.00 for takeout from this place for;
Arepa Leche de...
Read moreMy best friend and I stumbled upon Commo en Casa when I was seriously craving empanadas — and what a gem we found! As soon as we stepped in, I was instantly delighted by the décor. It radiates the tropical charm of South America, with vibrant colors and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel like we were transported somewhere warm and full of flavor.
We originally planned to just grab food to go, but the warm welcome from the manager completely changed our minds. He greeted us so kindly that we felt right at home, and decided to dine in instead — best decision ever!
They started us off with a delicious shot of non-alcoholic tropical fruit juice that was so refreshing and flavorful. We ordered the Bistek A Lo Pobrecito and a cheese empanada, and let me tell you — the flavors were amazing. The steak was tender and rich, and the empanada had that perfect balance of crispy outside and gooey cheese inside.
From the food to the service, everything was perfect. Commo en Casa isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. We’ll definitely be coming...
