A week and a half ago my father was restocking his suit selection. Mr. Mac was having a buy on get special so he offered to get one for me in the process. I have never cared for the quality or style of suits provided by Mr. Mac, for years I've been a Men's Wearhouse Perfect Fit member, but a free suit is a free suit so I went in. A suit was selected, I had some concerns about the waist of the pants and the bagginess of the legs but was assured their tailors could make the necessary adjustments. Measurements were taken and I was told it would be ready in a week. The week passes and I return to pick up my suit, it was handed to me already wrapped up and I was told to have a good day. I thought it odd I was not asked to try it on but it was getting late in the day and I had other errands to run so I took it and left the store. Later that evening when I got home and tried it on I discovered the cuffs on the pants had been hemmed and the waist was taken in a little but not as much as I had asked for. The next day I returned to Mr. Mac and new measurements were taken, apologies were made, and I was asked if I would like a rush put on the alterations that should have already been done. I thought I would be okay with out a rush so I said another week would be fine (as that is their general turn around for tailoring). I called first thing this morning to ask if there would be any way it could be ready a day early, as it ends up I have a funeral to attend the day before I am currently scheduled to pick up the suit (again) that had not previously been on my calendar. I was informed of two things, 1) their records show that when round one of alterations were submitted to be done the main tailoring I was told would be done was not logged to be done and 2) that it was simply not possible as there were too many other alterations to be done ahead of mine so it simply could not be prioritized out of fairness to the other customers. The gentleman on the phone I was talking to actually told me I should just pick up the suit, wear it as is (oversized non-fitting unflattering baggy pants and all) to the family funeral. So the moral at the moment is Mr. Mac doesn't really care how good or bad you look in one of their suits, it's just a crapshoot depending on how much of their job they feel like doing.
Update: I just picked the suit up again tonight, again it was handed to me wrapped and ready to go with no offer to see if I wanted to try it on. Either they are so cocky as to believer they can do no wrong or they are so certain and familiar with the quality of work they do that they don't want to make sure they do a job right. Ever. The adjustments on the coat were correct and it fits like it should. The pants however, still wrong. WRONG. They have measured me twice and in the two weeks they've had my suit have been unable to correctly do what has been asked to be done. At this point I don't know if the staff has not been taking accurate measurements when marking the pants or if the tailors have not been following correctly those measurements for alterations. What I do know is I am out of all confidence and patience with Mr. Mac and am having to go out of pocked to simply have this suit fit the way it should, the way I have now been promised twice it would...
Read moreMy mother and I have been going to this store for a fair amount of time (for longer than five years). I bought a suit for choir, a tux, black tie, 2 orange ties, grey pants, even just to brows and to be honest I couldn't ask for a better service than this. The options are many and the selections nice, blazers fit great here on me as well. Unfortunately the last time I came wasn't as great as it could be. I was asking questions getting to know the man and he thought I was trying to sell him something. I told him I wasn't but he still let me know up front, "If your here to buy a suit I would be happy to serve you in a professional matter". That's what I've always liked about this place aside from it's options. Anyway he went ahead and explained to me people have come here in the past to recruit because they are in retail. Nevertheless, if that were the case, if I was really trying to sell I probably wouldn't come here. I've always seen the associates here as service associates not sellers. Still, I apologized and thanked the man or his "courtesy" in the matter and I meant it. Although I might come to this store again I plan to keep my options open for now. I'm not one to let my emotions effect my viewpoint as a customer but this is just a recent shadow of my service experience here, which can be...
