Empanadas Monumental — Restaurant in Teaneck Township

So we eat here a lot, mainly because the Yoyo and Chimis are good. We really like the mofonguitos too but to be honest there are 2 different chefs that make them. When we order earlier in the fay, it's not as good because they have much less cheese and sauce, and get packed in the off white cardboard type of package. At night they taste way better like after 6pm and you know its the better chef because they pack the mofonguitos in a black plastic container and are so good. The empanadas are NOT good at all, Way too much dough and are thick and Not enough filling. The chicken chimi very good, the Yoyo is delish even though I have asked to add cheese a few times and they never listen lol. We have also had smoothies from there made with fresh squeezed OJ and some fruits, even with no sugar it tastes good. Sometimes they take long to make food, you call and they say give us 15min, you arrive in 20 and wait another 10 sometimes, so that is why a 4 star not 5 star rating. I wish the empanadas were better It's literally in the name (sigh) but a great spot for some good quick food that will fill you up. The Yaroa is also pretty decent there of plantain, the one made of fries i like better its not quite as good as in DR but it's not bad. Super small place, cant really eat there, no chairs,...

As a Dominican, born and raised in Santiago, I have followed and supported Empanadas Monumental from its origins. Approximately 2 years ago, I was elated to find out that a block away from my house, there was an Empanadas Monumental franchise. Upon placing my first take out order they got the order wrong and it took over 45 minutes for arrival. The quality was lacking…it just didn’t taste/look like the original. However, I just brushed it away to the ingredients not being the same here as in Dominican Republic. Today, approximately 2 years later I decided to give them another opportunity….WHAT A MISTAKE. The chicken empanadas were the same size as always, but with very little chicken and the little bit that it DID have was extremely dry. The dough was brittle..not flaky as it SHOULD BE. We also purchase pizza empanadas…same issue. It is a shame that Empanadas Monumental has NO quality control over the franchises. I will no longer recommend nor purchase any of...

Ordered food via delivery app.. The food took forever to be prepared (I was tracking it) and it was all cold upon arrival. I live less than 10 min away, I probably should have ordered via phone for pick up but I wouldn’t blame the delivery service.. Anyways, the flavors were ok but led my whole family to the bathroom! We ordered empanadas, yaroa and cachapas (de pollo). Overall, the meats were super dry… the yaroa was ok, the empanadas were meh. The empanadas were huge but when you bit into them, they were visibly empty. The fillings were there but it wasn’t filled enough.. plus the fillings just weren’t that good. I think maybe they might have been old empanadas, if they were fresh they might have been better.
