I first saw Dr. Palancew over a year ago (August 2023), was required to complete a slate for tests in the office and at home which I did. Once I completed the colonoscopy, I was also required to do an endoscopy. I was hesitant because I've had that test done before and it didn't garner any results and I received a huge bill for the colonoscopy. I called the office and requested from the nurses to be seen for a follow up before committing to even more testing and more medical debt with thus far, no intervention or treatment recommendations. The office staff assured me that A. The financial responsibility for the endoscopy would be miniscule compared to colonoscopy (which it wasn't, I received a bill for $600 after) and B. That I wasn't going to be seen or a treatment plan provided until I received all the required testing.
I finally completed all the required procedures in July 2024, the outcome was as expected, nothing that explains my symptoms other than mild acid reflux. Before I even left the office, I requested to finally make the follow up appointment, now that I went through all the procedures. I was told there is no expected follow up appointment and that it is unnecessary for me to return other than for a follow up of the same procedure a year later.
I have not heard anything since from the office and I am confused by this treatment approach since not a single actual intervention or option for symptom relief was offered to me. I am now in debt and still suffering from the exact same symptoms, there has not been a single attempt other than invasive, expensive procedures to resolve my symptoms. I am grateful that those procedures ruled out a lot of more serious diagnoses but other than that, I have not been helped by your office thus far to actually manage and treat these symptoms.
Updated: after sending this message with a request for followup to the office, my access to messaging through the portal has been blocked and I never received a response. I've been paying off the ludicrous bill in smaller installments and they sent a final notice and completely deleted my portal access now so I can't even make online payments.
This practice is completely unethical in it's standard of care and only treats obviously when it's easy and convenient for them. This...
Read moreI would absolutely recommend Teaneck Gastroenterology to everyone, including family and loved-ones.
Dr. Phillip Micale and the team are exceptionally skilled in their work. I easily scheduled a consultation, and colonoscopy. He immediately called in my “prep” medication and the staff called me one week prior to ensure I knew what to expect and how to successfully complete my “prep” before the procedure.
The day of my appointment the entire process was easy, the staff is gentle and knowledgeable, professional and incredibly efficient. From beginning to end only lasted 1.5 hrs and before I left they gave me a choice of juice and crackers as well as directions and that they would be following up with a call in three days.
My only critique is the building, parking, and waiting room left a bad impression. My partner could not wait for me (I forgot they told me about this, and I nearly panicked in the office, I was so nervous.) The waiting room had papers taped to the glass which felt unorganized. And my release paperwork asked me multiple times if “l had a living will” and “did I bring it with me?” This elevated my anxiety, but when I told the staff I was nervous they were kind...
Read moreWent for a routine colonoscopy. First had a consultation meeting. Staff from reception to nursing to scheduling was excellent. Great text/email/portal system. Appointment was on time, easy to talk to, and he understood historical issues I had. Set up appointment. One small issue office a bit backlogged for procedures. Got an appointment 6 weeks out. I asked if they maintained a list for cancellations, and they did. Received a call a few days later offering me a spot only 12 days away from my initial consultation. He recommends Plenvu a newer prescription bowel prep. They set up delivery of it to my home, with a $50 co-pay card from the mfg. It works well, requires much less fluid consumption but the taste may be off putting to some. Went for procedure office is on a different floor. Again staff was excellent (efficient and very nice). Appt. was on time. Couldn't have been more pleased. After Dr. spoke to me of results, and I was on my way home in less than 2 hours. One of the best run offices...
