Great Wall Kitchen — Restaurant in Teaneck Township

We started ordering from this place months ago & haven't stopped. . . Until TODAY 2/26/25. This place gets a lot of my family's money. I have never had an issue beyond a wrong order. I've never placed an order with an establishment where the person taking the order was outright aggressive & rude from the beginning of, "Hi, I would like to place an order for delivery." I asked a simple question a 2nd time because I thought I misheard the description of an item on the menu. I wanted to be sure I was getting what I asked for since they've messed up an order of mine on 2 separate occasions without one complaint from me. This person raises his voice & aggressively begins to give me the description. Before he could finish... I told him to cancel my order, that I'll be ordering from elsewhere. Without the slightest of remorse for his unnecessary actions & no apology, he obliges, by saying, OK! This place will not get any more of our money. My instincts told me this call was going to go left quickly from the moment he answered the phone with agitation. I couldn't have been more right. I don't speak to people in this manner & won't tolerate it from anyone...

The food is pretty variable. A few weeks ago, I ordered the lunch portion of baby shrimp with hot chili sauce and the vegetable chow fun. I thoroughly enjoyed both dishes. Today I ordered the same combination and was disappointed that the hot chili sauce wasn’t. It was more like a vegetable stew, mostly diced carrots and peas. Almost no chili sauce with chopped onions. The vegetable chow fun was enjoyable as before. I had some difficulty communicating with the order folks. All in all, two stars.

Yesterday I wrote about my experience with a repeat order that was different than a previous one a few weeks ago. Today, I took the dish back to the Great Wall Kitchen and asked them to “make things right”. The manager understood my dissatisfaction and redid that part of my original order. We ordered delivery off of the website, the food came quick and everything we tried was delicious! If you’re new to the area and trying to find your Chinese food spot, definitely give this one a try. We ordered Wonton soup, General Tso combo with pork fried rice, wings combo with house special fried rice, boneless spareribs, and egg rolls. To me the wonton soup was perfect, not super salty like you get from other places, and the wontons were hearty and tasty. The general tso combo was the perfect amount of food, it made two meals for me and had the perfect amount of spice for me as it’s normally made. If you like spicier you could probably request that. My husband loved the wings and the house special fried rice. The boneless spareribs were really really good, I’ve ordered them from other places and there’s always an after taste, here they’re cooked perfectly. The only thing we noticed was the egg rolls did seem to be a bit oily inside, but other than that...
