I can't remember the last time I've seen so many reminders in one taco shop that they also cater: it is plastered on their vans outside the shop, mentioned on signs in and out of the shop, and on the menu. Yes, I get it already, you cater! Apparently to prisons, judging by the food!
My mid-day lunch here was disappointing, to put it mildly. It began with a "too long" seven minute wait in line despite only two people in front of me. You would think they were trying to close a house with the woman in front of me, but nah... just a carne asada burrito. One guy in line gave up and left in frustration. I should have too.
After I put my order in, I tried to use their men's restroom but the light didn't work and they were totally aware that the light didn't work because one of their guys told me it didn't work. I needed to use my iPhone in flashlight mode and use my remaining hand to relieve myself, typically a two-handed job.
The "Al Pastor Quesataco" is one of the worst tacos I've eaten this year. It tasted like the pork was spoiled, wrapped in crunchy cheese that tasted burnt, and they chose to not add any onions or cilantro despite neither being available at the salsa bar. Awful. They use a trompo for their al pastor pork here, but it still sucks. The meat miraculously picks up no color. And, again, it tasted like it was way past its sell-by date.
Hoping for better from the eponymous "Aztek Taco," I was again disappointed. It was nowhere near as heinous as the Al Pastor Quesataco, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a blander taco with crappier underseasoned carne asada smeared with pasty guacamole. They throw some cactus in there too, but it's not enough. The lame salsa labeled "hot" from the salsa bar helped nothing.
I hate to write reviews like this, but this place needs to stop serving slop, figure out how to streamline their ordering process, and learn how to change a friggin' light bulb in their restroom. Just an all-around ridiculously...
Read moreMy husband and I came here for date night tonight and it was our first time trying this place . We did what most people do when they want to ensure time together and away from the kids will be time well spent... We checked Yelp and they had a 4.6 stars with 100 reviews. Food was good, but pricey for a taco shop. I thought it was a restaurant, but not a big deal. The deal breaker was the customer service at the counter. Brittany is HORRIBLE! I probably should've walked out when I first walked up and the gentleman next to me was arguing about not being charged for mushrooms and he proceeded to tell her he's been coming there for 5 years and has never been charged. But I took a chance anyway . I told her it was my first time there and asked her about a few things on the menu . Annoyed, she explained them to me. As I was waiting in the dining area sipping on my Michelada (bar tenders are great and make a killer Michelada) I saw everyone had chips. I asked another employee if there was somewhere I can get chips and she said the cashier gives them to you if you dine in (which I was ). I walked to the front and asked for them and asked her why she didn't give me any when I ordered. She said "you're suppose to ask for them" and tossed them in my hand, spilling chips on the floor. WOW!! Didn't apologize, nothing ! I was mad I lost my appetite which in turn of course ruined date night. On the flip side, the bartender was great, but it's not enough to bring my business back in here. Unfortunately, I will not be back. Customer service is everything and that's what...
Read moreWhile the cute baby flies were hovering over our table we proceeded to try our food: Carne Asada Tacos $2.40+?, consisting of very small tortillas to make them look good, a finely chopped carne asada that was tasty, but the fact remained that they charge way too much for their tacos, but tasty never the less. 3.5 Stars. Baja Fish Taco $2.65, as good as competitors, they use farmed tilapia, nicely presented and just a little better than average. 3.5 Stars. Pork Tamale $2.55 each, a rather hefty price for what turned out to be a tasty but expensive tamale, I believe the dozen is almost $30. 4 Stars. Al Pastor Burrito $6.99, nothing special about this one, certainly overpriced, but hey, what you are going to do? Is the new fad started by Chipotle were food is expensive for what you get, the meat was average and not very plentiful. 3 Stars. Service was prompt and courteous. 4 Stars. They are out to make money, and the way it is going seems they will accomplish their goals with no problem. Their salsa is only average, their tortillas offered with the meal much better than the salsas. Just one more of the expensive Mexican places, I guess is an attitude thing. The more I charge the better the food? Flies and heat are best friends, and yesterday is was very hot, but the flies were very small, almost cute, not that Aztec Tacos had anything to do with their presence, but it is still a bummer having to scare flies away as people eats their...
