Disappointment is an understatement…. I went to Angie’s Grill today for lunch and Iwas served raw meat…. I bit into my burrito only to spit out very bloody, raw piece of steak.
Upon taking apart the burrito the meat in there was so raw the tortilla was turning red.
I immediately emailed them and to my surprise I was emailed back saying:
“Our steak is cooked to medium rare to medium, so the photos do look pretty much to standard, however the 2 pieces in the bottom of the photo are for sure more on the rare side vs medium rare.”
The email etiquette/ professionalism of person writing the email was lacking “ so the photo look pretty much to standard” “ for sure more on the rare side” She offered me a gift card?? my email to them stated I would not be at this restaurant again yet she issued me a gift cars
In my opinion this situation was not handled was not great — I told them that is was all raw, yet their customer service representative decide to correct me by telling me that the meat is always served medium rare and that’s its the company’s standard.
Listen I love medium rare meat and I’m telling you now every person I showed the burrito to at my work agreed that it was VERY uncooked.
Respectfully, for a customer service associate to tell me I was wrong— but then tell me “for sure on the more rare side”?? Like they acknowledge it’s rare — yet there was no apology for the inconvenience of my situation , no apology for the rare meat.
Nor did she acknowledge the problem either which is staff serving undercooked meat.
To challenge a customer and what they are telling you what when they experienced…. It’s a bit concerning and makes me stand by my decision to never return here.
I emailed back asking for a refund not a gift card and added what I wrote here
It baffles me that they emailed back saying it would take 48-72 hours ( I was served raw meat by another establishment/ company in tempe and they immediately refunded me same day). Crazy they wouldn't do that for me but whatever I guess.
If they truly cared about having me return — this was not the way to...
Read moreOver the past month I’ve started to better my diet by choosing cleaner and healthier food options. I got hungry and was passing by this place on my way home and decided this would be the best place in the area for a quick healthier option. I noticed the print on the drive thru menu was small but being on a budget I opted for the Asian meal because I’ve seen advertisements for this bowl online and knew there was a special. There was no one in front of me in the drive thru line when I ordered but it still took over 10 minutes of me waiting at the pick up window for someone to open the window and hand me my food!! I also had to ask for my receipt which then took another 1-2 minutes for them to process with the window closed. The first thing that shocked me was the rice. I wasn’t aware the bowl came with rice. Rice isn’t even listed or shown in the bowl pictured on their site but whatever. It also came with chicken, broccoli, red onions, sweet potatoes and cucumbers. Everything tasted ok except the teriyaki sauce. It had a very strong spicy tart tangy flavor to it. I only ate about less than half of the bowl before i started to feel full. Now I do track macros and nutrition so I figured once I got home I would pull up the nutritional facts online since this is a popular fast food chain with a number of locations around the valley you would think they would be available right?? Nope.. I was wrong! I even emailed their customer support who confirmed they do not have this kind of information available yet. I ate half of that bowl Friday afternoon and regretted it still feeling bloated unable to enjoy anything else almost 24 hours later. They advertise this place to use premium and organic ingredients without any preservatives or additives which I feel is a lie or else i wouldn’t be feeling like I had 3 Big Macs from McDonald’s! Big mistake. Lesson learned not to put any food in my body if I don’t know what I’m eating… no matter what kinds of ingredients they advertise. I feel like I’ve cheated my diet and gonna need...
Read moreI read these other reviews and I wish I had gone there. Instead I ended up at this dump. Talk about a disconnect.
Anyone who rates Angie's Lobster's service at higher than 1-star hasn't been there -- there is no service. You never see an employee. For a cashless business, it is set up as if they're a jewelry store ready for a heist. All the employees are hiding behind covered glass.
Now, don't get me wrong. I've been to some absolute dives. Restaurants that were converted from gas stations, and it showed. This place takes the dystopian-future vibe and marries it with a the-terminator-is-about-to show-up-and-gun-everyone-down feel.
I had the chilled lobster roll. Talk about chewy. If you want lobster, go elsewhere. The fries were okay, I've had better off of food trucks. They were on par with what I expect out of the home air-fryer. They were edible, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement. If you're hungry for fries, hit your favorite burger joint. In fact, if you're hungry, go elsewhere. The portions are exceedingly small; effectively value-meal size.
You should be aware that you're forced to pay for a drink if you order a roll. The price is the same if you get no drink or if you get an iced soda. If you go no-ice, they charge extra. Refills were 99 cents. I didn't measure the container the soda came in, but I would be surprised if it held a 12-oz can of soda if there was no ice.
As mentioned earlier, this is a cashless business. There is no cashier on site. If you don't have a smart phone handy, go elsewhere. If you don't want to turn your credit-card over to yet another internet business, go elsewhere.
Angie's Lobster does have an interesting business model. I expect it to catch on when fast food workers finally price themselves out of business (California just passed a $20 an hour...
