My family and I were so excited to visit this cafe based on the online reviews and menu. I noticed the prices had gone up and still wanted to give them a try. We arrived and received a warm welcome from the ladies. We sat and looked at the menu for our to go order. The music was a bit loud but very upbeat. I noticed a gentleman behind the register. And when we were ready to order we walked up to the register to put in our order and he said he would come to the table to take our order. So we sat at the table which is about 10 feet from the register. While waiting for him, I noticed he was moving as if there were no customers in the cafe. A table asked to pay for their meal and he said he would be there in a moment. He took the time to drink a bottle of water first. We waited at least 10-15 minutes to place our order. The same gentleman came over with a mini Clove credit card machine and asked what we wanted. I started and didn’t know he had to scroll through the entire menu to choose Churro waffles. I told him my next item and he is still scrolling and he didn’t say anything. So I waited and he only mentioned the first item. We finally got through the order. My husband and daughter ordered coffee drinks. A iced caramel drink for my daughter and a dirty chai for my husband. My daughters drink came and we asked about my husbands drink and were told the gentleman would make the drink. He made a dirty chai for a table and delivered it to them. I thought it was quite odd because these drinks aren’t very difficult to make. This is now at least 30 minutes after my daughter received her drink. So, we have our food and still no drink. I head to the register and noticed the drink is made from a mix in a tub over the coffee maker. As late long as it took ( they had not started making the drink) I thought they went to a garden to harvest and grind the spices for the drink. I asked for a refund so that we could leave. I asked if he needed my husbands credit card and he didn’t respond. It was like he was ignoring me. I was 2 feet away from him. Then he says he didn’t need the card. And the with the same arrogance gave me $6.75 in cash (he didn’t return the tax we paid) stating his system wouldn’t allow him to process a refund. Interesting. We get home and realize the side of chorizo is soupy mystery meat. I asked did they sell it on the side but, they didn’t tell me how it was as prepared. It has to come from a can!!! I wouldn’t feed that stuff to my dog!!! We were also missing the side of bacon and jalapeños for my daughter’s sandwich. The waffle was VERY OVERPRICED for what we received. The waffle was gross!!! Without syrup it’s BLAND and TOUGH. With the cheap syrup cup they give you it’s too sweet. The Churro French Toast wasn’t cooked well. Very doughy. While he was taking our order, I asked the gentleman how long they had been open and he said they acquired the business 3 years ago. They should consider revamping their menu to less offerings. Master a few recipes and go with that. This whole experience was very disappointing. I attempted to call the number on the receipt and no answer on two separate occasions. So, I wasn’t given the opportunity to bring my complaint to the business before leaving this review. Sadly, I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE! It’s a waste of money. Overpriced for poor quality food!

First time coming since i moved locally - and definitely blown away. Atmosphere was amazing, the art work on the interior drawn in chalk was whimsical and very well done. The father/husband who owns the business with his wife was EXTREMELY well mannered, respectful, and attentive. His son was the one who seated us, he took our order and worked the floor which as the business owner is rare and nice to see. Options for regular filtered water, or lemon water from the dispensers gave a nice classy feeling. Then the food, the pancakes had great crisp and fluffy, definitely not a premix. Tea I got was actually brewed tea and not bulk mix. You can tell the food was made with intention, not just pumped out short order stuff. Definitely some love on that grill. Menu is amazing, so many options it was hard to choose. Chilaquiles burrito with house made salsa is an absolute home run. California Benny was incredible. Even the French toast was soft, and fantastic. Highly recommend, and the fact that it's a husband/wife owned local business makes it just that much better. If you haven't been here yet, you don't know what you're missing.

I just had the pleasure of dining in at Sweet Desert Cafe and I couldn't be happier. I have to write first about the atmosphere...it has been a long time since I have walked into anywhere and felt love radiating in every corner of a place, but you will find that here with SDC. The service, people and food are all full of care and kindness and that in itself is worth coming in for.... But thankfully, their food is just as amazing as they are. Words can't describe how good it is... I honestly thought that there is nothing better in the world than a churro, but their churro pancakes, delightfully, proved me wrong. I was mentally restraining myself from eating it quickly, choosing to savory the taste and atmosphere for a little longer. Thankfully SDC is close, so I can come in and enjoy their endless tasty options again soon. Thank you SDC, for being amazing, authentic and loving. The world needs more delicious, caring places like yours in the world. 🙂💖

Copied from my facebook post: This is a sad story, but one that I need to get off my chest. I have been coming here since Jose and Martha ran the place. They always treated me nice and always got my order correct. I can't stress this enough, an older couple in a busy cafe always got my order right. Apparently the new younger owners can't seem to do the same with my order. I came in about 9 months ago, lets say. I walk in and was greeted by some new faces. I didn't think anything of it, because the old owners ran such an excellent business. I placed an order for myself, my mother, and grandmother. 3 toasted croissants one, turkey, one ham, and the other that I can't recall. I told the lady at the front to please toast all three sandwhiches. They get to making the sandwiches I say again, all three toasted okay, the lady reassures me yes they will be toasted. I see them wrapping up the sandwiches and again I ask, you toasted those right? Again she reassured me. I look at the guy making the sandwiches and he's got this deer in the headlights look, but I pay and leave. I get home my croissant is toasted but the ones for my mom and grandma are not toasted. I was so upset I called the cafe and told them they messed up my order. The lady answering was very apologetic saying all the right things she offered to refund the purchase I said no, I want you guys to do better because the previous owners set such a high bar of expectation. I hang up. I swore never again to visit. But I missed the tres leche cake. So, it was Friday the 24th and decided you know maybe they're doing better, let me give the cafe another chance. I order for myself this time, my mother will never eat from there again. I order, can you guess, a turkey croissant a tres leches and a 16 ounce vanilla shake. I pay, everything is going great I come home. They gave me a turkey panini with everthing!! I call, Ivan picks up the phone. I say hey you guys got my order wrong, Ivan very apologetic say next time you come in give them my name and you'll get an item on the menu for free. I was so done, I was so heartbroken I couldn't believe it happened again. To top it off the tres leches wasn't as good as when Martha made it. Really I don't understand what makes me different from any of the other customers that walk in there that they think they can just do whatever to my order and I'll be fine with it. My money is as good as anyone else that walks in there, but apparently I don't deserve to have my order filled properly. The worst part is if you read the reviews on here and google, and yelp they are all 5 stars excellent service, so this is only happening to me. I don't know what I did, but I want Jose and Martha back. I was really wrestling with the idea of whether or not to write this review, but I feel that I have to do something. It's not right that everyone else gets A+ service, and I get F- service. Who knows maybe in another 9 months I'll try again. In the mean time if you want to take advantage of Ivan's offer to me in my name you're more...

Horrible experience!!

I placed an order online on postmates for pick up. The confirmation order said 30 minutes at 10:15 am. Thus, I arrived at 10:40 am to pick it up, as sometimes orders are ready early. They told me that my order was not ready, so I sat down on an empty table to wait for my food; within five minutes, a waitress came and asked me if I needed something in a rude tone. I told her I was waiting for my food and she said "you need to wait outside" in the same rude manner. Five minutes later (10:50am) They came outside, and gave me my food with no receipt.

I left, thinking that was the end of it. But when I got home, I opened up my food only to realize I was missing part of my order (the eggs and bacon-on a breakfast plate) on one dish, and they had completely given me a different dish for another (crepes instead of pancakes). I took my food back, since I'm not one of those people that eats the food and then wants a refund. Upon arriving, I asked a tall gentleman with glasses at the counter if I could see my receipt so I could confirm what I had ordered, then I showed him the plates with food. He asked me what I wanted, I said "a refund" since I didn't get what I wanted. At that point he mentioned that I would have to go through postmates; to which I replied "ok". He then asked what could he do to make this right, I said "If you could re-make the food, since by this time all three plates are cold and I already paid for it", to which he said ok. I told him I'd go wait outside, in order not to crowd his counter area. 10 minutes later I went back in just to check how long it would be before the food was ready, to which the gentleman in the glasses said "it would be better if you get your refund back because my kitchen is really backed up. Sorry!"

In summary, they were rude, couldn't read an order correctly, have faulty technology as they wouldn't print my receipt, and couldn't ammend their mistake by remaking my food; on top of keeping my 33 dollars for the next 5 to 7 days. I will...
