BURRITO EXPRESS — Restaurant in Tempe

Lemme start with the good. It was fast, and friendly. I had a coupon for BOGO free so it was very cost effective ($10 for two burritos). The tortillas are pretty good. However, the filling... I got the Three Way (red chili, green chili, and beans) and there's really no other way to describe what was inside this burrito but "soup". It was just a pool of reddish liquid with occasional small chunks of potato. There were exactly two pieces of meat, each about the size of my thumbnail. It had no real distinct flavor and even adding the salsas provided didn't really amend it much. Its possible that this is just a bad combo and their other menu items are better, but I'll be honest and say I wouldn't pay full price to find out. I've loved this place for many years. I was thrilled when they opened a new location less than 2 miles from my house- I'm extremely disappointed to say the last 2 times I've been there, the food I got was so salty, it was literally inedible! I kinda gave them a pass last week- one burrito in 10 years was bad- Certainly understandable, right? Well it happened again and now I'm afraid it's time to find somewhere new... Burrito Express is 1 mile from my front door. Short menu… not trying to sell everything! What they do serve is made with quality ingredients and is very tasty! Breakfast Burrito was really good… cubed ham, whole strips of bacon, eggs, potatoes… very impressed with it! I always test the Rolled Tacos at a new place. Most places over cook the tortilla shell. These were cooked more to my liking and the shredded beef seemed moist… fresh! Very good guacamole! I tried 2 Hard Tacos…1 shredded beef w/ corn tortilla… and 1 chicken w/ Flour Tortilla.
