Terrible commonsense! Terrible server! Cast of characters: The mean kangaroo pouch waitress, Uncaring idiot manager Maggie, Old Mexican customer and family. The family and I were friends attend this Garcias on Warner at least twice a month. The experience is always hit and miss. This time it was a mess! When we first arrived there " Old Mexican customer "and family" we were seated in a booth. The booth was older of course they're all old no problem. It was squeaky and smelly. We asked to be moved outside. We went outside. As we sat, the mean kangaroo pouch waitress, asked my daughter for ID. No problem she's 27 years old. Then my wife wanted a drink. She's in her 50s. Mean kangaroo pouch waitress then asked her for her ID after seeing the 27-year-old's ID. At this point I said so if I want to drink also you're going to ask for my ID also. "Mean kangaroo pouch waitress said to me and my family" yes I'm the meanest one here." I said you're kidding right? She said no I'm the meanest one here. I pointed to a table across the way with a bunch of blue hairs having their mixed drinks and asked the mean kangaroo pouch waitress did you ask them for their IDs? The main kangaroo pouch waitress then said yes, I did, i'm the meanest one here. Not a good experience! I told her you have to have common sense she just shrugged her shoulders and said i'm the meanest one here. I think you can replace the words on the meanest one here with on the stupidest one here. Really, asking a bunch of 75-year-olds for their IDs! Ridiculous! We left and went across the street to Zipps! About 20 minutes later I called Garcias to complain about the attitude of the server, the kangaroo pouch waitress. The uncaring idiot manager Maggie then proceeded to tell me about state law! Wow! Never heard that one before! The old Mexican told Maggie that was fine, but what about the attitude. The uncaring idiot manager Maggie then said she will always support her servers. Then the old Mexican said to her, even with their poor attitudes? The uncaring idiot manager Maggie then repeated what she said, I will always support my servers! I told the uncaring idiot manager Maggie I know exactly where you stand, thank you.
Idiocy starts at the top! If idiocy is in charge than idiocy is what you get as a team! I don't know if I totally blame the kangaroo pouch waitress as much as I blame the uncaring idiot manager Maggie who was in charge of the Garcias restaurant...
Read moreI never even noticed this restaurant on Warner before since any other Garcia's is usually a stand-alone building. However, my son and I searched my area in Tempe... North of Guadalupe off McClintock... for the closest Garcia's since he enjoys their bean dip, and was shocked this particular location popped up. Well at this location, their "bean dip" is more like spicy cheese soup. The beans were not distinguishable in the runny cheese consistency or the flavor. It actually tasted terrible... along with their Charro beans which were undercooked and had a nasty flavor. That was the most surprising disappointment. How do you screw up pinto beans that bad!?? The only way I screw up pinto beans is by adding too much bacon to them... and by "screw up" in this latter sense, I mean it makes them more delicious, but more fattening. LOL But seriously, they used either bad onions or some funky spice to obtain this result. Two small bites... and I was worried I'd get sick if I ate more. Yuck! The entre accompanying my Charro beans was their Spinach Enchiladas... which were edible, but not particularly enjoyable. They were more like cheese enchiladas because they definitely had more cheese on and in them than spinach. There were very few wilted strands of spinach throughout both Enchiladas... which is probably just as well since it didn't have the healthiest consistency, compared to any other spinach. The only good flavor in them was the corn tortillas, which appeared to be doubled... rich in corn tortilla flavor and cooked perfectly. The flavor of the cheese was meh and again there seemed to be an "off" flavored spice in them. I'm a Mexican food loving girl... and an enchilada connoisseur, as I make some of the very best. 😉 My son ordered the Chicken Flautas, which he seemed to enjoy. However, he too was unable to eat the Charro beans. I'm not sure who's doing the cooking at this restaurant... but they should probably go into a different line of work. The server, on the other hand, was very good and friendly. Will I return? Sadly,...
Read moreMet with family after my daughter's graduation and they split our tables up. Didn't even put them together so I had to ask them to do so so my family could sit together. After about 15 min the server came and took our order. 45 min later the food came. The part I didn't like is the babies food came out when ours did. They were hungry and screaming. Ordered chicken strips they were burnt. The manager brought us new ones but should have never made it to the tanks for a 3 yr old to eat. We had to ask for refills on water and it drinks. After everyone was done eating the server came and asked us for dessert. When we said no thank you she walked away. Didn't ask us if we needed to go plates. I asked for them. She eventually brought us our checks. Since there was 15 of us there we were charged gratuity which is fine but she got almost 50 bucks worth. They service we got was unacceptable. I spoke to the manager afterwords and all she had to say was that is a conversation she would love to have with her server and asked us to give the restaurant another chance. Iwant expecting anything but the fact she did nothing to try and make the situation right didn't sit right with me. Knowing we recieved burnt food and a big party as we were we did not get checked up on by her. I will give restaurant cooks some props because the food was great. Garcias is my favorite restaurant but I will not be returning to this location. 2 stars is only because of...
