Came across this donut shop on Yelp & was intrigued by the number of high reviews & the unique donut combinations/flavors, toppings & names. Luckily, we stopped by after eating dinner last night to check it out. We were just going to get donuts to bring home since we were pretty full, but decided we had to try one of their donut milkshakes while we were there. So glad we did--it was amazing! I ordered the blueberry struesel to share with the hubs. Yum! They actually put the same ingredients that go into the donut you choose in the milkshake + little chunks of donut & serve it with a full donut on top. So. Good. You will definitely get your carb & sugar fix here! The whole family loved the concept & vibe they have going & my son (& his friends that he Instagrammed) also loved that it's a 24/7 donut shop. The interior is spacious & clean (although, you could tell they'd just come off a rush maybe earlier with some crumbs on tabletops & a little icing on a chair or two here & there). They got busy quickly after we arrived--I guess more people had the donut-for-desert idea (or maybe donuts-for-breakfast idea). We thought the staff was helpful & pleasant; the owner came out & chatted with us too, checking on our satisfaction with our order & experience (a nice guy from New York). We ordered a dirty dozen for our order for home so we could pick our own donuts. I had half of my Jesus & half of a caramel delight this morning with breakfast coffee. OMG so good. The Jesus is cinnamon-goodness (think of a churro or horchata in cake donut form) & the caramel drizzle & peanut crumble on the chocolate cake of the caramel delight was decadent. These are dense donuts & will fill you up. Next time (oh yes, there will be a next time!) I'll have to try their coffee too (it's nitro) & some of the other amazing donuts--including the ginormous cinnamon roll and fritter someday. One suggestion might just be for a heads-up to customers that because the milkshakes are such a specialty shake, it takes just a few minutes before that comes up to the counter. (Worth the wait, but just good to know in advance so you don't start thinking it was possibly forgotten...
Read moreI need to First apologize and say I wish I had remembered the young man's name who helped me on Friday morning (8/16), but I sadly don't. But their employee deserves so much kudos.
Extremely long story short but I recently suffered a severe burn on the entirety of my left arm and my face after a propane tank explosion at my house. On Friday morning August 16th, I had my first visit at the burn Clinic to have my wounds cleaned which was one of the most excruciating things I've ever gone through. I told my husband all I wanted on the way home was a freaking donut to make myself feel better, because I rarely allow myself to eat them.
We stopped off it hurts Donuts in Tempe, and when I walked in I was greeted with a warm friendly smile from the young man at the counter. Given the name of the company and the ambulance outside I jokingly asked if I my injury would entitle me to a free donut, and he laughed and said it would depend upon my story of the injury. After a brief explanation of what I had gone through, he took one look at the bandages on my arm he told me he thought it was worth two free donuts and allowed me to have two of my pick on top of the half dozen we were already buying. Whether or not it's a thing they actually do at Hurts I don't know, but in that moment his lighthearted kindness and generosity was something that I absolutely needed after an extremely painful and brutal morning.
I just want to say sincere thank you to him, because although it was nothing more than a simple chocolate donut, for me it was a much needed treat to sooth my tears and soul. Dramatic sounding I know, but it's true. I just want him and his employer to know that his simple small act of kindness truly made my tough day a little bit sweeter, and absolutely made me a customer for life. To hurts, if you're able to figure out who he was, please give himu my sincerest thanks and gratitude, and know you have a...
Read moreMy wife was contacted by Hurts because she signed up for their Easter delivery of their Easter donuts and the donut making kit. The gal we spoke to when we confirmed our address and paid in full told us that they had hired extra drivers and they wanted to have delivery done by noon. So we paid the $43 plus dollars and the day before we got a text message from Hurts confirming our delivery. My kids were so excited that they refused to eat breakfast because they were holding out for the delivery. We waited all morning and nothing. Finally after 1pm my wife called the store and was told by an employee that the delivery would be here within an hour. 2:15pm came and no delivery. (At this point we really weren’t interested in purchasing donuts that had been sitting in a truck for hours.) I asked for a refund but the gal at the store said there wasn’t anything she could do. About 20 minutes later a guy called me (who wasn’t even a manager) and told me they canceled lots of orders and they would refund our money in 48-72 hours. He told me there was nothing they could do. This was such a disappointment to my kids and the guy acted like “Oh well”. We were customers of Hurts for a long time but not anymore. Their customer service was terrible and the attitudes of their employees I spoke with were just awful. It’s apparent they promoted something that they couldn’t fulfill.
UPDATE: I received a text from Hurts two days after my original review. They had refunded my money but also offered to deliver the donuts the following day. I was very surprised but very appreciative of their offer. To their credit, they were at my house the next morning. So I changed my rating and wanted to give a shoutout to Blake for making us regular...
