Don’t go here!!! The reason for the score of a 1 was because of the extremely rude treatment the bouncer/bartender chose to display. This is unacceptable towards any potential customer but especially towards someone in the public service sector who saves lives literally every day. He was completely out of line and I will never be back despite our going here for 20 years. Here’s the full story. my group of nurses and doctors went here the other evening. All of us are in our late 30s or older. And to be perfectly honest we look every bit of our age. One of the nurses didn’t have her ID and was initially denied admission. She explained that she was there with a large group letting off steam after a long day of literally keeping people’s hearts beating, she presented her hospital badge with picture that shows credentials as not only an RN but also as a certified heart specialist, credentials that cannot be earned by the age of 21 unless you are perhaps Doogie Howser. The man rudely told her she needed to leave immediately for not having a valid government id. She asked if she could just not drink and stay since she was with a large group and also explained she was 42 years old and gave her full birthday. He again said she could not be there…at 7:50. She went to her car to look for the id, having no luck she returned to say goodbye to the group. The bouncer wasn’t at the door when she returned so she went to the table to explain and then leave. Meanwhile the waiter walks up and asks what she wants. She tells him she has to leave and he tells her she can actually stay until 8 pm so she sits. He leaves the bouncer spots her, storms up, and aggressively asks her to leave. She repeats what the waiter had said. The bouncer says that’s incorrect and only true if she is a CHILD! She’s like what? So if I’m a kid I can stay five more minutes but since I’m a 42-year old I have to leave? He said it was the policy of Monkey Pants. She said she needed to tell the group and get her bag and moves to do so. He stands tall behind her, arms crossed, frowning and crowding her while she does so and then walks her out like she’s a criminal. I was absolutely horrified at such treatment, especially knowing she is way old enough, and that she had tried to prove it with a nursing badge. Does no one treat nurses nice?! Also just so we are super clear this is definitely not a part of the AZ liquor laws and is at the discretion of monkey pants on how to handle the situation. We still don’t know what their specific bar policy may have been since their own employees seem to have different understanding of the policy. Overall this was so very disheartening for how people are treating others these days and also how Monkey Pants, a place we’ve loved for so long, chose to handle the...
Read moreWe decided to stop in for a fun karaoke night and was sadly disappointed. This place has a chill vibe but almost too chill. Walked in, sat at a table, watched the server come to a table to serve and chat multiple times. Never once acknowledged our presence. We brushed it off and I tried to order from the bar. One barmaid was intoxicated and unable to tend bar so relied on conversation instead of serving. Made my drink with grapefruit instead of pineapple. The other barmaid took our order and fixed my drink. No big deal. Menu has good concepts and seemed appetizing. Waited over 45 mins for an order of nachos and 2 sides of fries to come out ice cold. Sent order back to kitchen with intoxicated barmaid. Ordered another drink and a replacement of a water that was served to us in a glass with mystery floaters. Food eventually was replaced and rolled eyes followed it up when we asked for ketchup. The barmaid sobered up some as the night went on and must have realized what we were actually dealing with, unnecessarily removed the cost of our food from our bill. Still tipped as we always do. This could be a great comfortable place if it didn't cater directly to its regulars. As a traveling RN, we are always looking for fun places to visit especially for group outings. This place was not inviting whatsoever. Can't help but notice we were the only blended couple and the only ones treated as outcasts. Not uncommon for this area. Deny it if you want but it's TRUE and should be rectified. My husband wasn't even given the opportunity to sing karaoke after we were there for just short of 3 hours. Not one song. It's sad to me, after every hit humanity has taken especially in the service industry, that people are still so judgemental. That server and business would have made a substantial amount of money if they were even slightly welcoming. Do not waste your time or money. Go somewhere where all are welcome and spend your...
Read moreMy group started out with about 6 people at 7pm. There were maybe 6 other people at the bar when I got there and 3 others at another table. My group grabbed some table and set up there. It took 40 minutes and needing to re-ask to get my beer. I ordered food at the time that had to ask again for it. About 20 minutes after I ordered, some friends who joined late ordered food (mine srill didn't come out yet). When their food came out about 20 minutes later, mine came out too (close enough to an hour after ordering). It was all dried out and obviously had been sitting under the lamps that whole time. Thank God for the tub of ranch dressing the server gave me. I had also ordered an extra side of French fries to go with my meal to share, that didn't even come out. It was probably 30 minutes AFTER I was done eating that the server told me they "would be out shortly". At that point we didn't even want them. Fast forward to paying my bill, they don't show you what you're being charged for, just the total. When I asked to see what I was being charged for, the extra fries were still on there and drinks I didn't even order were on my tab.
So! Long review short. Their ranch dressing is good and saved the day on my dried out food. The Karaoke was a ton of fun and honestly the only reason I would ever come back to this bar and the only reason why I'm giving two stars. Even then, I would probably protest it if my friends recommend going here again. So basically, pregame before coming here because the...
