I randomly came in because I found it on Google maps when looking at spots to grab a sweet snack near the post office. Walking in I got a great vibe with how open, lit up, and clean the place was. The big wall of donuts drew my eyes and I knew I was in the right place, even if I was going to be challenged to actually CHOOSE from the large variety on display. The gelato and pastry (croissants, etc) section got a brief glance with a mental note for future visits, but I'm a bit of a donut fiend, so I knew where to focus on the first visit.

The woman behind the counter gave me a big smile and a warm welcome, immediately drawing my attention to the huge pile of free samples. As I scarfed down a free sesame covered donut hole (very tasty!) she explained the huge set of donut varieties and answered all of my questions with unfaked enthusiasm.

I ended up taking home a Portland creme (the maple and?butterscotch or caramel? frosting paired perfectly with the thick, not-overly-sweet creme filling), and a glazed old fashioned (hefty, crumbly cake, with maybe a touch less glaze than I'd have preferred), and a handful of the sesame donut holes that she threw in for free, since I clearly enjoyed my sample.

Sesame Donut is a small, but clean and cute little doughnut shop. It's cozy inside, though there's no outdoor seating, and they have just two tables for two. The staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming! As a first-time customer, I appreciated their thoughtful suggestions on drink options. Plus, I got a free donut of my choice – I went with the coffee cream.

I also tried their iced coffee and cold brew. When I was offered espresso, I was excited to try it, but what I received was a regular iced coffee. I wouldn’t have ordered the hazelnut iced coffee if I had known I wasn’t getting the espresso shot, and I would’ve declined the additional iced coffee. That being said, the Iced Coffee with Cream was a smooth and refreshing beverage. It was perfectly balanced with a rich, creamy texture—bold coffee flavor combined with velvety cream made for a satisfying, cool drink. It’s perfect for a pick-me-up on warm days.

The donut itself had a dry exterior but was wonderfully fluffy inside. The coffee cream filling was a bit inconsistent in flavor, though.
