I'm trying to figure out if these positive reviewers ate at the same place. First of all, maybe they should get people who actually know about Japanese food to work the register. I asked if the sukiyaki chicken was sweet (because actual sukiyaki can be kinda sweet depending on who is making it), and the girl looked at me like I'd asked if there was chicken in the chicken bowl. I'll just get to the food experience. I got a sukiyaki chicken bowl, my husband got a teriyaki chicken bowl, and we both got an order of dumplings. Five dumplings for $6 would be understandable if they were made in-house and actually good, but they tasted suspiciously exactly like the ones you can get in the freezer section at any grocery store. Definitely not worth $1 a piece, and less so with the knowledge that they more than likely get a bag of 100 for $13.
For "chargrilled" or "charbroiled" chicken, it barely had any flavor and tasted a bit gamey, on top of being weirdly chewy. I'm not a picky eater and neither is my husband, but he could only eat maybe half of his bowl, and I only took a couple of bites of mine. Mine would have been decent if the chicken hadn't tasted like it had been microwaved, but the rice still would have ruined it. I've never had rice that starchy and overcooked at a restaurant, and especially not from an "asian" restaurant. The Cherry Pepsi was...
Read moreGot the teriyaki combo with an egg roll, California roll sushi, and some pot stickers. I don't write reviews for places very often, but this was genuinely some of the worst food I've ever had. It was palatable, edible. But The bowl was on par with prison food. It was slime with protein and carbs. No veggies were even added. The egg roll was an egg roll. The sushi was 95% rice, 3% seaweed, and 2% avocado/fish. The pot stickers were just ok, nothing much to them. No sauce or anything added. Other than that, the lady at the front was very nice and the restaurant's atmosphere and furnishing...
Read moreGreat fresh food! It's been years. I still Love the teriyaki rice bowl. All others have been closing down, it's depressing. Wish they had one in Arrowhead Towne Center (mall), Peoria, AZ. They used too. Definitely was worth the travel from Peoria, AZ for me ;)
Added Edit: Not sure what the negative comments are about... there's Tons of chicken in this bowl! And the place does NOT smell bad. The seating is a nice cottage style atmosphere. While it may be dated, it's still very nice and relaxing. They even have a TV for some...
