Beware of signing up for any PT sessions. You will be signing into a contract that is not only not disclosed to you, but not explained to you. After seeing a charge higher than expected, and not given a receipt or record of what I had paid for, I called and was assured by Samuel P, the PT training manager, that it was a one time charge and the total I needed to pay for my PT sessions. I thought I had bought 12 sessions for a grand total of 260 dollars. I thought that was a great deal and a reasonable price. I planned to use this once a week, taking me out 4 months. I had called to ask and clarify this within my 3 day consumer window when I saw the charge was higher than expected on my credit card, and had the intent to cancel, but I was reassured falsely by the manager, nonetheless. I was charged a month later to my surprise another 260, and when I called to figure out what was going on and to get refunded, Samuel said he did not ever say that over and over very unprofessionally and defensively. He said it was emailed (it was not). I then asked if he could just pull up the notes on our conversation on Aug. 11 or maybe a recording so we could resolve this and I could cancel and get a refund. He told me they don’t do that and further explained they don’t give refunds. He also gave me the impression that I would be charged for 6 months this fee. I was appalled! I asked for his manager and he said he was the manager and when I demanded the number to the LA Fitness Corporate office, he gave me a wrong number to call and I ended up later calling back and talking to Jazmyne the Operations Manager at this location. She was kind and professional and gave me a number and email to corporate. She explained they don’t usually give refunds apologized for my misunderstanding (even though it wasn’t me that didn’t understand, but was in fact told the wrong information by her employee, Samuel P.) She also said there was a record of an email sent with a PDF of my contact (there was not). I told her that Samuel needs better training and shouldn’t be in charge of membership and subscriptions if he can’t explain them right or provide a copy of what consumers are signing up for. Currently, I’ve contacted my Credit card explaining the attempted cancellation within the 3 days to get refunded. I’ve also filed a complaint with the BBB, and talked with the corporate offices of LA Fitness. They keep saying they emailed me. First of all, I should have a print out version, and second the only email I received from LA Fitness was a welcome email, no attachment with a PDF or Word document outlining a receipt or contact. Canceling a service and getting a refund/partial refund should not be this difficult. This business is using deceptive practices and bait and switch type tactics that is not protecting consumer rights. Shame on...
Read moreMy wife and I’s experience with this L.A. Fitness has been horrible. My wife originally signed up for a personal trainer a couple months back because she had the motivation to workout, which was a good thing. Unfortunately, I feel we signed up with the wrong location. First off, my wife was told that she was signing up for a “buy one get one free” set of sessions. This would be where her and her sister both would be allowed to book monthly with their own personal trainers but only be charged for one. The trainer, Andre, who signed her up lied to her. She had talked to the operations manager today and he confirmed that this was not the deal documented in her file. So ANDRE JUST TOLD HER WHAT SHE WANTED TO HEAR SO THAT SHE WOULD SIGN UP! Now that is just the tip of the iceberg. Andre also forgot about a scheduled training session during this time, and also just plain cancelled on her. With Andre’s poor attendance and lack of respect for my wife’s schedule, she requested a new trainer. This new trainer also cancelled on her today! So in two months, she has been cancelled on three times! The policy states that if my wife would cancel with that short notice then we would lose that session, however, L.A. Fitness’s trainers feel that they can cancel whenever they want! This is not a good practice. My wife went and spoke to the operations manager today, Aaron Munro, to cancel her personal training contract and he told her it would be a cancellation fee of $400! He had explained to her that she had three days from the time that she signed up to cancel without a fee. THAT IS ANOTHER THING ANDRE DID NOT MENTION TO HER WHEN HE “SOLD” HER ON PERSONAL TRAINING. If he had mentioned this she would have cancelled because the SECOND time Andre cancelled on her was within that three day window. It just seems that operations manager, AARON MUNRO, feels that lying to potential clients is the way he wants his employees to sell his training sessions. And it also seems he is ok dealing with angry clients that have been lied to as long as his trainers get people to sign a $90/month contract. So if you are looking for a gym, yes L.A. Fitness is a nice gym, maybe just try a different location. Aaron Munro and his staff will just tell you what you want to hear and then...
Read moreMy experience took place January-February I hadn't done a review because im not they type that does so, but after temporary coming back to Tempe and in search for a gym I came to see the reviews and was shocked that its still horrible training management so I decided to put my experience here in hopes of saving someones pockets. Don't sign up for personal training here it's a waste of money. I was a member back in February I spoke with Conner and he had another employee sign me up, he promised me I would be able to get a trainer early and would work with my schedule. I specifically told him that Im a single mother & I would need a trainer from 5am-6am because thats the only free time I have. when I tried scheduling they told me the earliest was 8 am they didn't try to work with my schedule, they wanted me to go in at their time and even asked me to go on my days off, I have other things planned on my one day off I shouldn't have to stress over this when they said they would work with my schedule oh but the guy was so quick in thanking me when I signed up because he just needed one person (and that was me he convinced) to be able to get his $100 BONUS! THATS ALL THEY CARE FOR lying to be able to sign up people for their commission. Don't waist your money here! I had to move to another of their facility to be able to accommodate my hours but even at their other facility their trainer was horrible, never asked me if I had any injuries or anything. I HAD TO TELL HIM I had knee problems but yet he would give me so much weight my knees would be in so much pain afterwards. I tried canceling but Conner was no longer working at this place. I was blessed to be able to cancel because I was moving & there wasn't any of their facility near me so Glady I didn't have to pay the absurd amount they ask for canceling. Even thou they don't meet up to what they say they will do for you. Absolutely horrible training experience. I won't ever get a trainer in any of their facility. So if you need to cancel your training here make sure you are moving somewhere that there isn't a facility near by your new home, or you joined the military. Other than that you will have to pay them an absurd amount...
